Can Em ever make a mature album?

Postby FreeSpeech » Jun 9th, '12, 23:14

Im in my 20s, it feels weird to be listening to a 43 year old man making fart jokes and shit puns. I know its tradition, but i really wish hed grow up a bit. Even his serious songs now, he has to use immature lines like "nipple is mine for the milking". Come on. In fact, Em has possibly gotten less mature. On the 8th album, i want some actual grown man music.

I dont know how old he is tbh, just guessed. Still, i wish hed make some mature music instead of trying ro be his 26 year old self. Relapse was fine because it was an act, a persona. Now its just lame. Jay matured perfectly, so did Nas. Em just tries to be his old self. I want a completely mature album.

Nas, fresh? Thats a joke right? Nas has had the same tone, style and topics for years and years now, Yawn. Em has switched up drastically every album. Same cant be said for Nas at all.

And I love Kanye West. But he's also immature in a lot of songs, just not in that way. Eminem can't brag like I got this I got that, bitches on my dick so his signature is pretty much the funny and immature tracks.

Kanye West and all the other rappers can make tracks with punchlines about food, talk about how many bitches they get and how many cars they have and yet they don't get shit because of it. Wouldn't it be weirder if Eminem rapped about how rich he is?

Eminem is a father, a good person in interviews and is disseminating positive messages in his music. How much more mature do you want? Boring old grumpy mature?

You obviously a) have no sense of humour (which is what the wordplay is all about) or
b) havent been around older people much. Where i work, its interesting to hear 35 year old men talk about sex and the "olden" days. They laugh, the do silly things and live life a little. Hell, Elton John was OLD as fuck when he was appreciating and accepting and PARTICIPATING with Marshall during his most obnoxious and "immature" days.

A lot of his tones or themes have always been deceptively mature.

He will no doubt continue to interweave juvenile jokes and tongue-in-cheek jibes throughout his lyrics as that's who he is, that's his personality. He's reactive, witty and a realist.

But even early on: rapping about how parents need to account responsibility for their youth as opposed to using media as a scapegoat... that's a mature theme, just to name one.

A lot of his music could be analyzed to show how he's in fact, very mature.

He expresses a constant confliction of tones as he's often intentionally creating or attempting to create music / art that is a little harder to swallow, and doesn't have easy answers.

But, when you say 'a mature album'... why would you want an album to be ONE thing anyway. All of his albums have many tones, themes and views, and all of them show maturity.

I think the best art has many things happening at once. The best art I am aware of, or, to me personally - is art that can be interpreted in multiple ways, that can be applied to different contexts, that has existential themes etc. Totally bare introspection, to me, is obvious, and easy.

Which is why I am least impressed, and most bored with Em's material of that nature.

Uhhh, in what fucking world are you living in if you think that line is immature? It's a clever metaphor about "owning" the rap game, and he's milking it (farmers OWN their animals, and milking them...).

Plus it's part of an even more clever wordplay with the "ML King/ milking".

I don't know, can Kanye ever make an album that nearly every song is about his material possessions?

Why would you want him to make an album about material posessions?
