Why do some people here think Eminem is the GOAT?

Hi I have been lurking on here for awhile usually just to here the new em songs as I am a big fan.

The reason I wanted to post this (sorry if it's in the wrong section?) is that allot of people here think Slim is the GOAT ( I know some don't but allot do) or even the greatest rapper alive. I mean as I said I think eminem is a great rapper and I can really relate to him, I mean I know this is a fan site for him and all but isn't there a difference between who you like and who has more skill. but I don't get all hype he gets. I really want to stress this before I start asking questions I don't want to offend anyone.

I know that eminem is very skillful and honestly one of the best currently but I just can't help to feel he is just hyped up because he is white. I mean honestly he deserved the utmost respect for breaking barriers but it almost seems like he just gets a free ride when he raps. You can look how easy it is compared to black rappers for white rappers to become popular. People like Mac Miller, Asher Roth and Yelawolf (even though I think he is pretty good just a little bit overrated) to become popular with no real skill (not saying em doesn't have skill), and the worst part has to be Mac Miller fans thinking he is the rap messiah.According to em himself if he wasn't white he would be outsold by quite a few artists.Eminem has never at any point in his life been the "greatest alive"

And what I don't get about eminem is how people say he raps about his real life, well so do 95% of rappers, and eminem only recently started rapping about "life" and in that respect is just a carbon copy of Kanye West, in fact I could only name about 4 songs on Recovery that could be classified as his real life, and it's horrible to see people on here dissing Lil Wayne for being fake, I honestly don't like Lil Wayne but I don't see how what he is rapping about is fake, he did the same thing as em and became mainstream, I actually used to like the early Wayne, before all of this YM shit.

Finally my last point is his rapping, undoubtedly lyrically his early work is fantastic and I quite enjoyed Recovery, but really how good is eminem really, I mean freestyle wise people think because of his Westwood performance he is the greatest freestyler out there, his rap was dope , but there are many mainstream rappers who went on the show and did better than him(Kid Cudi, Big Sean, heck even Asher Roth did) Honestly the old slim shady is what I used to love but I never took him seriously back then, he was simply a comedian rapper who didn't talk about real life (even childish incorporates his life into his raps) and now he just feels ...different for some reason.

Sorry if I offended anyone, I just needed to get this off my chest as I have been arguing with someone over this.

Mac Miller became popular because of his content and he simply appealed to the mass. There's no way he'll get bigger, just like Asher Roth, from now on their hype will slowly die and they'll end up being semi underground/mainstream.

Yelawolf and Asher Roth are talented though, they both have a unique sound and they can write great things. It's true that he would've sold a lot less, but think of it.. To get to the point where he is, he had a lot of work to do. Growing up being one of the only white rapper on the Detroit Hip Hop scene wasn't easy for him, he was beaten up a lot and no one took him seriously.

Then they respected him because of his skills, and he became big in the underground only because of his rapping skills. Then Dre noticed him, signed him and everything changed. His skin was actually helping him to sell, it was controversial.. A white rapper killing it.

Eminem raps about real life, and other rappers too. That's a terrible excuse some casual faggots use on Youtube comments. But Eminem didn't start to rap about his life recently.

If I had, Rock Bottom, The way I am, Cleaning out my closet, Sing For the Moment, Mockingbird, Crazy in love, say goodbye to hollywood.. are about his life. And a lot other tracks from his prime.

Lil Wayne use to be a good rapper, now he's terrible. The hashtag type of punchline is stupid and he sold out like no one ever sold out. He doesn't really care about rapping now, and his last good album was the Carter 2.

Eminem's writing is really great. I mean you probably don't even notice half of what's going on when he rhymes, because his writing is a lot better than any of the rapper you quoted. Maybe Asher Roth rhymes great too now, but definitely not like that.

That's what really matters in freestyles like on Westwood shows, it's the rhyming, the emceeing. And Eminem is still great for that.

A few tracks out of a large catalog doesn't really answer what I'm trying to say, look at Tupac, sure he makes a song like Changes, but the majority of songs he made around that were contradicting.

Maybe you don't notice the multies, internal rhymes and even inverses Eminem uses. To say Big Sean or Kid Cudi did a better job than him on that show was stupid lol. He killed it on that one.

I knew Brain Damage was about his life, and since you used the SS lp how many of those songs do you think are mostly about him?

Big Sean, Asher Roth and Kid Cudi DID do better than him , that's not to say they are even close to being as good as him but they did out do them. Did you listen to them?
