Eminem and Slick Rick

I don't know if there is a topic on this already, but for a while now I have been listening to a couple slick ricks songs, and ever since then I noticed that em samples some of his stuff, and imitates him in some songs. Heres what I've come up with so far, feel free to add other lines that you noticed in the comments. I'll edit the post when I read them.

Em is very influenced by Rick - you can hear the influence of Adventures of Slick Rick on a lot of his SSLP-era storytelling stuff.

But yeah, these homages are fucking great, really cleverly twisted.

Yeah Em is clearly a big Slick fan.

This also may be partially where he got his wit in my opinion. Em's always had like a more typically British sense of humour, in terms of his sarcasm and irony... and given that Slick Rick is British and incorporated a lot of that in to what he did, you can hear it.

I also think that may be partially why Em was always sort of, 'gotten' quicker in the UK vs. the US. Even though it was mostly just corrupt American media and politicians scapegoating, but beyond that, if you look at like "Stan", probably his public piece with the most dark humour, that resonated in the UK instantly where as it wasn't very big in the US. In terms of being 'a hit'.

That could also be due to Dido on it though.

Slick Rick is the absoltely best rapper anyone should "imitate". The dude is sick and his when he's telling stories you feel like you're actually there, his imagery is vivid as fuck. So yeah it's great.

A lot of it is delivery, too. His unique cadence makes you want to take a seat and listen.

Yeah one of my favorite songs by him is La Di Da Di, Childrens Story is up there too. He can just tell a very detailed story that you can visualize throughout the whole time. I don't listen to a lot of his shit, but it's all really good.

Embase what you said in my opinion is very true. Like I said originally, I been listening to some slick rick, and his humor is sort of like his, but not lyrically if you know what I mean? Just like the jokes he uses in some of his songs are similar to slick ricks. they're both very clever rappers.
