Listening to Encore today gives off a weird vibe.

Postby Blu » Aug 25th, '12, 03:31

I don't know how to explain it, but just knowing that Eminem was on some crazy ass drugs gives off a whole new perception to the album.

The whole Encore era was just a big mindfuck. One of the biggest stains of crap in the history of hip-hop.

I just got done listening to "Like Toy Soldiers", and am currently listening to "Mockingbird", and I'm just like Image

I honestly don't know how I feel about this album after all these years. Yes, I know it's terrible, but it just gives off such a weird vibe and weird feelings... I just can't think of a perfecter way to word it...

I've always said that the album is a classic when you listen to it on the pills he was on.

You mean if he released the exact same album, only he wasn't on them at the time? No my opinion wouldn't change, that's just being a bitch. Drugs are just as positive as they are negative. If you give people hammers, some people will build things and some will just hit people.

The creativity he was exhibiting in terms of delivery and song structure was interesting, but his concepts and lyricism were too lazy all too often for the album to be worth listening to more than once in a great while.
"America...just a nation of two hundred million used car salesmen with all the money we need to buy guns and no qualms about killing anybody else in the world who tries to make us uncomfortable" — Hunter S. Thompson

This... plus it was obviously very experimental & a lotta people didn't understand it.

The weirder thing is people started to call it garbage like a year after it dropped, not at once.

There are strong songs on it & if some other ones didn't leak prior to it it'd be even stronger... meaning some of the songs on ''Straight from the lab'' that supposed to be on it but weren't because they leaked.

Off course it's nowhere as strong as his first 3 albums but it's nowhere near garbage as well. For instance up until today people call ''Big Weenie'' one of the worst songs ever but they still don't understand EM is literally doing Benzino on it, on purpose. If you listen to Benzino diss songs to EM & then listen to it, you'll know what I'm talking about. I mean it suppose to be obvious EM is not just acting as a Benzino character on it but he imitates the way that sucka raps as well!!!
I do like it because it gives you another perspective of how people wouldn't fully acknowledge if someone is way more than wack up until someone else who's not wack does that same thing. Like ''Nail in Coffin' & ''The Sauce'' did show the gigantic difference between EM & Benzino but to me ''Big Weenie'' is way more vivid of that. It truly sounds like a painful confession coming outta jealousy & it matches Benzino's reality as a "rapper''.
''Nail in Coffin'' & ''The Sauce'' murdered Benzino & proved EM was/is one of the sickest MC's to ever graced the mic, but ''The Yellow Brick Road'' & ''Big Weenie'' totally made that sucka vanish even though both records are totally different kinds of songs.

Overall I'd love if it was stronger lyrically , but I've enjoyed it a great lot that way as well.

His verse on Spend Some Time was well written, no way did he write that verse when he was making Encore as the rest of the album was lazy simple rhyming. The Spend Some Time verse may have been intended for TES and scrapped or written between 2002-early 03. Not talking about when it was recorded but when it was written.

Garbage album, should have explored the political aspect more (Mosh,We As Americans, Square Dance on TES was political too).

Without Encore he has a very good discography.

Funnily enough I have a signed Eminem Encore Disc :coffee:

The first five were great, the silly ones ruin it.

The actual imagery and concept to the album are brilliant; if only he was at his best and executed that concept wholeheartedly throughout... it could have been incredible.

some 4 or 5 songs in Encore Literally ruin Em's musical catalog. I've seen LOT of people outside this forum Completely trashing Relapse and Recovery. But These 2 are actually Great Albums and don't dent his legacy. Haters opinion are irrelevant. Seeing Em's Discography and if its like=
SSLP-MMLP-TES-RELAPSE-RECOVERY
:worship: :worship: :worship: :worship:
Put shitty Encore in the middle=
SSLP-MMLP-TES-ENCORE-RELAPSE-RECOVERY
:facepalm2 :facepalm2 :facepalm2 :facepalm2
Completely ruins it and "Inconsistency" becomes the main argument during comparative criticism of EM with other rappers.
