Gosh, I really prefer the first tbh. That limp/hop thing he had going on.. goddamn, that was sick. I don't know, it just seemed a lot more powerful. That's a song that's meant to be performed like that, not calmly like the second. The second half of his last verse and his chorus were fucking aggressive as shit. I loved it. It starts around the 3:50 mark. Jesus, he just seemed a lot more confident, while the second one he seemed more comfortable than anything.

The backing track is there to layer his vocals to make it sound similar to the studio version.
I don't see how anyone could misinterpret that as lip syncing. And both of them I'm talking about.

There's a backing track in 2009 but you can clearly distinguish his voice from the backing track. It's only there if he messes up and probably because he hadn't performed the song in years.

But he did it pretty well imo. I like both. I enjoy the 1st one more overall because Jay-Z doesn't mess up as much, but Em-wise I prefer the 2nd.

It really makes you appreciate Em's stage presence and professionalism when next to Jay-Z. In no insult to Jay-Z whatsoever, he did amazing on Renegade and I love him but he messed up several times, even stumbling on words and his own flow occasionally, including breath control.

Em seemed awkward at times too, but he's virtually perfect with his lyrics and breath control and mostly it's just aesthetically strange walking the way he walks or spits sometimes, but as far as delivery he's amazing live.
