Em had fantastic material to work on for Relapse and Recovery, but now those themes (drugs, insanity, getting clean, conquer your fears) have been more than exploited, so he has to come up with something new. I get the feeling that the next album is going to have a focus or concept based around Detroit. Anthems that represent cities are always huge (see Empire State of Mind). Now I know everybody will say that Detroit is a dumpster and nobody gives a shit about it, but fuck it, watch that Eminem Chrysler commercial and tell me it doesn't send chills to your spine.

If I had to choose, I'd go with that kind of theme. Just like the narrator mentions, songs about luxury (Em's fame in contrast to all the poverty there is), a town that has been to hell & back (it could be another concept for the drugged, almost dead to getting clean phase), is the hottest fire that makes the hardest steel (an inspiring song about overcoming the challenges of life), we are from america, but we are not from NY City (imagine a tribute song about what Detroit has given to the game [artists like Em, Royce, Trick Daddy, Dilla etc.]), etc.
There's so much to get out of that Detroit theme, and like I said, we might have had a glimpse of Em's future album the day that commercial aired.

Discuss.
