8Mile On Billboard's Top 10 Best Hip-Hop Movies Ever

Postby Emshady2 » Nov 11th, '12, 22:27

2. "8 Mile" (2002)

The Curtis Hanson-directed film made us feel every heavy step Eminem (who portrayed Jimmy Smith) took in going from the streets of Detroit to success in rap. "8 Mile," which was inspired by Eminem's own life, is a harsh, yet hopeful, story of an aspiring rapper which motivates till this day. Em won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for film's soundtrack single, "Lose Yourself."

DESERVES THE NUMBER ONE SPOT

Cool, though it should be number one. Really is one of the best hip hop movies out there, Em or no Em.

The paradox of the absolute oxy-moron. The line you typed was worse than Billboard not listin the movie #1 Not that it would matter. It is a fictional story, apparently, like the streets of sweet home alabama. I dont know if its the rock or rap version though 'cause that changes the name of the street you live, apparently. Its just so totally relevant. The people you love change, depending on the name of the street you live which depends on the type of music you are listening to. If you change the name of the street you live, temporarily, you change as a person too. And with time, you completely forget not only where you came from but also who you are, thats the absolute moron of the oxy-paradox of all times. So you change the name of the street permanently and you save losing yourself again. But thats from a different movie....

8 Mile doesn't deserve to be number one. Yeah, it was a good movie, but it didn't really capture the point of Hip-Hop, just showcased Rabbit's struggles.

Wild Style deserved that number one spot.

Not really, it only focused on Rabbit. It captured Hip-Hop being his only hope of surviving. Future, the dude who shot himself in the leg, the fat black guy, and the fat guy's preachy brother were all fine. They weren't depending on Hip-Hop.

I didn't mind Notorious, the guy playing biggie was good, most of the other actors were pretty poor though. Tupac was definately portrayed badly as well.

I have to admit I haven't seen many of these movies but in my eyes 8 mile deserves #1 spot.
