Eminem made rapping seem so easy

Postby Blu » Dec 24th, '12, 09:47

All these new mainstream rappers have never had the type of passion 1999-2002 Eminem had in his voice whenever he spit.

These new cats like Chief Keef and 2 Chainz seem so constipated. That's not even the right word but they don't seem to be enjoying the music. They just get high and rap some bullshit lyrics. It's a disgrace to hip-hop, honestly.

But then you put on SSLP and suddenly Em's passion just calms you down, the way he gets into the whole fictional story of "Brain Damage" chills you out and nearly stops you from smashing 2 Chainz's new "album" in pieces.

Nowadays, there are a few rappers that seem to have that passion. Guys like Kendrick and Big K.R.I.T., they seem to be enjoying the music - at times.

Just a small observation I made while bumping SSLP lol.

I would have thought managing to stay on the beat is a minimum requirement to be a rapper, but apparently not.

It's the reason Em is still streets ahead of many others around at the moment. From my perspective, anyway.

Kendrick is dope, though. Em should do a song with him, seriously. Some real competition on a track for once.

But Em was pretty bad at staying on beat in his first two albums. He has always said that he used to completely override it. He's become a lot better at riding beats, especially since he started producing his own tracks.

You mean talented people make their craft seem easy? No shit, that happens in everything. Every elite athlete makes the game look easy and effortless.

Being mainstream has nothing to do with it. Eminem is the most mainstream sellout their is. He dyed his hair and made trl friendly songs to be more appealing. But he is still one of the best ever.

Either you're good or you're not. Hip hop is dead. Yes there is good rappers still out there. But it hit it's peak, so I don't really expect to see many Nas or Em quality rappers around. Music is changing. It's always changing and hip hop is being fazed out. It happens. It had a great run.

They cater to what the majority likes the most. I've never heard a Chief Keef song in my life so I can't speak for him, but 2 Chainz makes music that people just want to party to or whatever.

I just like 2 Chainz because he's the funniest son of a bitch I've heard.

The parameters that has been set by this thing called Mainstream is pathetic. Underground is much better, do what you wanna do.

:facepalm

Riding a beat takes absolutely no talent whatsoever. Any halfwit can ride a beat. Fucking Ke$ha rides every beat.

Eminem started out as a teenager using that generic eighth note-humping flow that every pop rapper and netcee uses and evolved beyond that.

And he made the statement you're referring to back when he was starting to develop writers block (2002) and was trying to make excuses for why he could no longer come up with creative flows and had to settle for generic, monotonous deliveries. The Eminem Show was already out and he was in the process of trying to force songs like "We As Americans" and "Monkey See Monkey Do."
