I'm only focusing on three songs which are: Here Comes The Weekend, Numb and C'mon Let Me Ride. I'm not going to talk about My Life but it's no secret that his verse for that song was recorded long before those three songs.
I decided to make this thread because I honestly like these songs individually for what they are. So I wanted to start a discussion to share my thoughts and also to hear your thoughts on them also.
1. Here Comes The Weekend
This was the first song out of the three that was released. At first when I heard this and even still to this day, I actually like it. Don't really listen to P!nk at all but I wasn't against listening to her on this song. As far as Em's verse goes, it was a great verse. Aside from the fact that it was a pretty short verse, there was really nothing wrong with it. The rhyming and flow were very on point and top notch. Not to mention the fact that there were no awkward punchlines or any unneccesary screaming. I know for a fact that the siren part was a personal highlight for some people. Overall I saw nothing wrong with this verse. Once it had came out, it was seen as a huge step in the right direction considering the verses that we had heard prior to this.
2. Numb
Ok, now this song is pure garbage. Even for the likes of Rihanna, plus not to mention how horrible this is especially when you look back at the success and love these two got together over their last two collaborations. Rihanna's part in the song is literally unbearable. Em's verse is really short on this one. I don't think anybody was expecting it to be THIS short. A lot of people seem glad it was short and think it would be horrendous if it'd gone on any longer. I think people need to understand how long ago these verses were recorded. The verse started off weird and I'm not even going to bother trying to defend the, "Butt Police" line, although to be honest, I laughed the first time I heard it. But even though the content of the verse wasn't at all good, the flow and rhyming were great. I really enjoyed his flow and thought it was one of his best flows as of late. So, overall the song was a mess but it was very enjoyable listening to Em's verse.
3. C'mon Let Me Ride
Nobody really knew how this song was going to turn out or how it was going to sound. But to be totally honest, I think it turned out great. Skylar delivered with great singing and a very catchy hook. The beat was indeed good, especially for Alex Da Kid. I know a lot of people can't stand his production. The beat for Our House was a complete mess but this beat was very good. Maybe Em has given him some tips or something. Who knows? But as far as Em's verse goes, I thought it was excellent. His verse was extremely on point with the concept of the song. He had a great flow and his voice was very calm which I liked and made it even more enjoyable. His rhyming as always was brilliant and he had some great lines in there. Overally it was a fantastic verse performed by Em. I didn't find anything at all with this song that I didn't like.
So it makes me think why people are putting this recent stuff down and saying it deserves to be thrown in the trash. I hope some of you agree with the points I made. Because honestly in my opinion these recent verse we've gotten aren't that bad.
What are your thoughts?
