Devil's Night

Postby A42491563 » Jan 8th, '13, 17:55

I know there is a D12 section here but this topic doesn't have much to do with D12 and more to do with Eminem. His first 3 albums will arguably always be regarded as his best albums. When Devil's Night came out, I went out and purchased it since my friend had told me that Eminem was featured throughout the album. Listening to the album to this day I feel it has the best production that Eminem has ever featured on any of the albums he's done. I think Eminem Show has the best production of any of his solo albums but I feel like Devil's Night has the best production he would've mastered if it was a solo album. As much as I like the album, I wish he would've made it a solo album with a few features to go along with it. Imagine Eminem in his prime killing each song with the production that album had instead of just being featured as a D12 member. I bet people would be saying Devil's Night possibly is his best album instead of SS LP, MM LP, or Eminem Show even though all 3 were great albums.

Does anybody else feel the way I do when listening to Devil's Night?

I just wanted to have a name that sticks out and it's easy to remember. So, what do think of my topic?

The way it's presented, of course it's going to come after MM LP and SS LP. If it was a solo album, I think he could've topped those albums since he was still in his prime and the album had great production. Sucks we will never know since it was a D12 album. I still enjoy listening to it but it always makes me think it had way more potential to be another classic Eminem album.

i really enjoy this album alot. its the closet thing to a MMLP sequal we will ever get. I always wished that he could of used all those verses on Devil's Night and just made his own album that would have been inbetween MMLP and TES. Revelation is fantastic

Devil's Night is already a really good album but just imagine these songs with 3 verses from Eminem: Shit Can Happen, Pistol Pistol, American Psycho, Purple Pills, Fight Music, Instigator, Pimp Like Me, Devil's Night, Revelation, Words Are Weapons, These Drugs. That's already 11 songs that would've made for a classic album that follows up MM LP

4 classics from Em if all his verses was on his own solo album.
Fuck top five, bitch, I'm top four
And that includes Biggie and Pac, whore
And I got an Evil Twin
So who the fuck do you think that third and that fourth spot's for?

If it was, dont forget about his next album after his solo "Devils Night". Its Encore. The pain would be much bigger.

Would he be able to match the verses he gave? A big reason as to why he sounded so good was because he was competing with 4 other guys (fuck Bizzy).

I agree with bigray, I'd leave it alone, Proof, Swift, and Kuniva had great verses. Proof killed everyone else and raped them while they were dead on Revelation.

Would he be able to match the verses he gave? He was in his prime back then, I definitely think he would've been able to create his best album yet if he focused on it as a solo album. I know D12 did well on the album but if I had the choice to hear a sequel to MM LP or a D12 album with Eminem just featured as a group member than it's an easy choice. Prime Eminem with imo the best production that he's ever had on any of his albums would've been an instant classic.

Powerful statement by the great and wise TRex. I agree.

You seem to put D12 on a pedestal that I wouldn't put them on. If it wasn't for Eminem bringing them up, I don't think I would've paid attention to them as much I did. I see things opposite from you, Eminem doesn't need D12 to push him to be at his best. He's the one that pushes D12 to be at their best which I think is just average. With the production on that album, I have no doubts that it would've been his been his best solo album up to that point.

Well, I was only saying lyrically wise I don't think D12 needed to push Eminem to be at his best when he was in his prime. Since they're close friends, I would imagine that they motivate each other to do well. And yes, I do like you mentioning Revelation since it's probably my favorite on the album. I think it's the best song they did as a group where everyone did great especially Proof. But, I loved Eminem's verse on it even though it may not have been his best. I would've love to see how Eminem would've approached it as a solo song. It wouldn't surprise me if he would come up with a better verse than Proof did.

No i def feel the same. i'm pissed he didnt make that shit as a solo album. his verses, the beats, and mainly his hooks/concepts were fucking dope. thats a classic album with d12, imagine without them lol

This is the kind of reaction I thought I would see from people. Everything from Eminem was great on that album. From the verses, hooks, and production it was all on top form imo. If he had focused on it as a solo album, I find it hard to believe that he wouldn't be able to top MM LP even though I think Eminem Show is his best album.

I dont see how anyone can say that if em made Devil's Night is own personal album that it would be a classic. At the time that Devil's Night came out IMO em was at his personal best when it came to making music. He had it all in raps, flow, beats, style, amazing whit, and anger. The MMLP era is the quintessential Eminem album and having a sequel to that would have been amazing. But unfortunitly we will never get one, unless em releases unheard music form that era, which i dont see happening anytime soon.
