Jay had strong themes and flair too but nowhere close to Em in every aspect on that song.
- Delivery.
- Flow.
- Message (Em's way of expressing his message, by ambiguously suggesting his music may be this or that, touching on the larger hypocrisy of parents and critics...)
- Lyricism (Rhymes, phrasing, choice of words, coherency, vocabulary)
Em was a bigger, more engaging, impressive and eloquent presence in every way. Beyond message, he's just a better rapper too - he's more precise, more energetic, more exciting, and just better at expressing his thoughts in an original way, he chooses his words more carefully and makes every line worth it here. I enjoy Jay's verses but they sounded faded and limp in comparison.
