"em killed you on your own song"

Postby tadpole25 » Jan 27th, '13, 02:49

Everyone considers this a powerful line from Ether.

I'm prob gonna say some opinions that will offend a lot of people, but who cares.

Honestly, I really like Eminem's verse, but I liked Jay Z's a little bit more.

Jay-Z's was less about defending his image and more about hiphop in general.

Eminem had more multi's, but Jay Z won in message.

Just my opinion.
"I take yall diss as endearment - I love it when I hear it
Maybe words offensive - free speech I don't fear it
Maybe music can take us to a place so atmospheric
Beyond our greatest imagination, illuminatin' experience
If we open our ears and close our inhibitions, it's clear"

I don't think that either, but Eminem was still better than him on everything in that song. Everything.

The fact that Em had his verses rcorded first and Jay had all the time in the world to do better and still couldn't is why people say he got "murdered".

There is no denying that Jay had good verses, but they weren't amazing and post people you talk to will say Eminem's were.

Yeah I think Em had better verses but those were like two of the best verses Jay ever rapped.. I always loved that song because it's really phenomenal. I mean Jay did like ten times better than Royce..

Jay had strong themes and flair too but nowhere close to Em in every aspect on that song.

- Delivery.
- Flow.
- Message (Em's way of expressing his message, by ambiguously suggesting his music may be this or that, touching on the larger hypocrisy of parents and critics...)
- Lyricism (Rhymes, phrasing, choice of words, coherency, vocabulary)

Em was a bigger, more engaging, impressive and eloquent presence in every way. Beyond message, he's just a better rapper too - he's more precise, more energetic, more exciting, and just better at expressing his thoughts in an original way, he chooses his words more carefully and makes every line worth it here. I enjoy Jay's verses but they sounded faded and limp in comparison.

Bruh, read these.

There's nothing wrong with defending your image. What an utterly stupid reason to like Eminem's verse less.

And it was a key line in Ether ;)
