Is Eminem planning a "gimmicky" release for the 8th album?

You know, kinda like Yeezus and MCHG. Both of those albums had a "gimmicky" release/marketing campaign, one without singles, pretentious "do it yourself" album cover and without a solid release date until the last moment, and the other announced 2 weeks before its release and with a special app deal with Samsung.

Do you think Eminem will do something similar? And if so, what would you like to see?

I think Eminem could pull off the announce it one day, release it the next week tactic pretty well. If he did that, I still think he would sell a ton of albums, but I believe the album's popularity would drop dramatically after that. After all, you do need singles to be on people's minds for a longer time and for the radio to play your shit.



I do think Eminem is planning to do some sort of special marketing campaign, and I think that "Trust Shady" shirt they are selling on Shady Records is the first clue about this. What does it mean, I don't know, but the promo for the album should revolve around that concept.

That's exactly what I think.
The album is done, it's been finished since late March I'd say, even earlier. If you remember Dre said Em was finishing it up, in March.
But he thinks that there's something missing, and THAT something could be anything, from a/the singles to the cover, a song, even a skit. Em is a perfectionist, we all know that. He just needs to be 100% sure before putting out an album. He's rap's Derrick Rose.
Or maybe, and I've just thought about this possibility, he has some personal life problems, maybe he needs to be there for his daughters, Nate, or something like this, and he just pushed back the album to be able to be more present and help them more easily.
Who knows, we will probably never be able to know the real reason of this delay. We just have to patiently wait (pun intended) and hope that the record gets released more sooner than later.

If he can convince the label that... then I'm sure he'd be down to do it.

He hates album phases as far as I'm concerned. He's a quiet dude. If he could drop it quick and get it over with I'm sure he would.
