DETROIT, MI - An ESPN executive producer for its "Saturday Night Football" coverage reportedly believes he knows the real story behind Eminem's bizarre interview Saturday night during the Michigan-Notre Dame football game in Ann Arbor.
Bill Bonnell, the ESPN official, told Sports Illustrated's Richard Deitsch that Eminem appeared "legitimately nervous" to do the live interview with commentators Brent Musberger and Kirk Herbstreit and was "goofing around" during has attempts to answer questions.
An excerpt from Deitsch's report; it mentions that Eminem's interview with Musberger was five months in the making:
Bonnell said what viewers did not immediately recognize was that Eminem took on the persona of his Berzerk character in the video. "He was just messing with everyone," Bonnell said. "We had no idea he would do that, but if you see the music video, it's him looking into the camera and doing a throwback to the '80s. You clearly saw after the video was over, he became Marshall Mathers again. He was goofing around."
Eminem teased the video for his new song "Berzerk" during the ESPN interview and is expected to unveil the entire video at noon Monday on Vevo.
