what the fuck are you on?

What do u mean? I'd say the promotion has been pretty good for an album that is still 2 months away.

2013 albums released by popular rappers

lil wayne
i am not a human being II - 217,000 first week

kanye west
yeezus - 327,000 first week

jay z
magna carty holy grail - 528,000 first week

with that in mind, mmlp2 can be defined as a contemporary success among his closest mainstream rap rivals if it sells 500,000 or more first week.

anything above 600,000 then he's won

above 700,000 then he is the undisputed king

above 800,000 then fucking hell he's killing it #legend

you need to stop taking em's commercial success for granted and stop getting carried away about a million+ first week because this is the sort of thing when it actually sells 700k you will talk about it being a flop, when in reality that would be incredible

^ Keep in mind that people are tired of Lil Wayne, and that Jay-Z and Kanye West had no singles out before the album release. They had some promotion, but no promotion works better than an actual single and having your songs played on the radios.

Drake has 2 singles and many songs and promotion and he's about to sell 700 000. Take Care almost reached that, at least.

i understand that and we'll see how much drake sells, but tbh even though i hate him drake is one of the most popular rappers today and he SHOULD technically be selling more than em because he is fresher. em first studio album - 1999, drake first studio album - 2010. drake would have been 12/13 when sslp dropped

but despite that em still sells more.

thank me later - june 5th 2010 - 447,000 first week (1.6 million sales overall - US)
recovery - june 18th 2010 - 741,000 first week (4.4 million sales overall - US)

nothing was the same vs mmlp2 will be good to see how it compares 3 years later...

not happening.

not ems fault. its just that with torrents and fire-sharing on the rise, em (and 99% of other artists) will never have an album that tops MMLP / TES / Encore.

You sure about that ;)

there is a girl named Adele, you might check her album sales :coffee:

and recovery was insanely good compared to most rap cd's.

ever since rampant piracy, it's practically impossible for non-pop albums to reach a million it's first week.

more importantly than first week sales, i wonder what chance it has of being the highest selling album of 2013 like recovery was in '10

http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/ ... -gurls-top

bearing in mind it has only about 8 weeks on sale until 2014...but then again you have black friday and extra sales for christmas maybe?

this is from july http://top40.about.com/b/2013/07/06/jus ... so-far.htm

It's gonna be a tough battle between Justin Timberlake/Eminem/Drake.
