Rank Non-Eminem studio albums

Postby One Mic » Sep 14th, '13, 18:46

His studio albums have been ranked to death, this one probably not so much in comparison.

Wasn't going to include Curtain Call as it is a greatest hits album and only has 3 original songs, but then I figured the 8 Mile Soundtrack only has 5 Eminem songs/appearances so here is everything that you can't consider a solo studio album from Eminem.

The Slim Shady EP
Devil's Night
8 Mile Soundtrack
D12 World
Curtain Call: The Hits
Eminem Presents: The Re-Up
Relapse: Refill (DISC 2 ONLY)
Hell: The Sequel

Here is how I rank them

Devil's Night because it's a classic. 8 Mile because of Lose Yourself alone, and every Em track on there is great, H:TS because it's very good, same as Refill. D12 World not as good as Devil's Night but prefer it to the Re-Up. Curtain Call at #7 because despite it having a lot of classic Eminem songs on there, I can just listen to the studio albums the songs are taken from, + the original songs on there aren't great. And even though "Low, Down Dirty" is sick, Slim Shady EP is not much to shout about tbh

1. Devil's Night
2. 8 Mile Soundtrack
3. Hell: The Sequel
4. Relapse: Refill
5. D12 World
6. Eminem Presents: The Re-Up
7. Curtain Call: The Hits
8. The Slim Shady EP

Are we just ranking them by Eminem's verses on those?

No Apologies > all that sh.
"So one last time, I'm back, 'fore it fades into black and it's all over, behold the final chapter in the saga, trying to recapture that lightning trapped in a bottle twice, the magic that started it all...tragic portrait of an artist tortured....trapped in his own drawings..." - Bruce.

This place calls things classic that aren't classics. Devils Night a classic......please. I like it and it's dope, but a classic? SMFH.....

1. 8 mile Soundtrack
2. Devils Night
3. Slim Shady EP
4. Hell the Sequel
5. Refill
6. Curtain Call
7. Re Up
8. D12 World

8 Mile soundtrack was amazing word for Em. That soundtrack really really makes me wish he would have said fuck it and put a full length studio effort into that.

Next is Devils Night. It was dope, not the classic fools make it out to be on here, but Em was really really dope on it. It was Em in his absolute prime and it showed on several tracks.

Next is the Slim Shady EP. He was young and raw, but everything was on point. I rank this just above Hell the Sequel, which I still believe is the best Em has been since the 8 Mile era. These were close but I gotta go with the toned down but raw SSEP Em over the Hell Sequel Em.

Next is Refill. If these were Relapse left overs, I'm not sure if they were or what, but damn I wish they would have been included. Even Buffalo Bill with the accent worked well in my opinion. Hell Breaks Loose, Elevator, Music Box, Drop the Bomb On Em. Dope stuff, just doesn't match the previous 4 in my opinion.

Next is Curtain Call. It had When I'm Gone which was great, Shake That which worked for what it was, but it also had the absolutely god fucking awful Fack. Fack really brings it down, horrible song.

Then it's Re Up and D12 World. Both had one great moment, How Come and No Apologies. but I'll favor Em on Public Enemy #1 or Re Up over D12 World Em. I feel like Em was trying to be too much like 50 during the D12 World time and it didn't fit him.

D12 World was awful, Encore Eminem truly began appearing in late-2003. How Come was the only good song on the album, imo.

Yes, I know they have Em which helps elevate it to classic status for a debut group effort.

Not one single person outside of this place would ever...........ever call Devils Night a classic.

Seriously??? You put Devils Night as an album next to classics like Cypress Hill, E 1999 Eternal, Grip it on that other level, The Score, License to Ill, Pauls Boutique, Things Fall Apart, 3 Feet High and Rising, Yo um rush the Show, Nation of millions to hold us back, fear of a black planet, Peoples Instinctive Travel...Paths of Rhythm, Midnight Marauders, Straight outta Compton, 36 Chambers, Raising Hell, and the list goes on???

Not even close. Ems work on the album is superb, but the album is not a classic. No fucking way in hell. Classics are either so dope you have to call them classics, an example for me would be Eminem Show or Jays Black Album, or they changed the fucking game. They were innovative, something no one had seen, and raised the bar in hip hop and/or changed the game forever. Something like that would be Reasonable Doubt, Illmatic, SSLP, MMLP for me.

Devils Night isn't close to a classic album, it's a dope album, with superb work from Em.

I'm surprised D12 World is near the middle of the pack. Aside from How Come, what did people like that Em did on it???
