Give me a reason to like Recovery/MMLP2

Postby Svarteier » Aug 17th, '14, 21:20

Im a huge Eminem fan since early 2000s and I love everything he did up to the Recovery album
I love SSEP/SSLP, MMLP, TES, the D12 Albums, and even Encore/Relapse
but Recovery that album just doesn't click it for me, his flow sounds unnatural and his rhymes are lacking, the lyrics in most of the songs are just bunch of words without any meaning for me
MMLP2 is even worse, it feels so forced and every 2nd song has a guest vocal on hook which is annoying by it self
I want to like those albums but I just can't. I know it's stupid and I should just not listen to them and move on but the guy was my favorite artist for 10+ years and I just can't move on

so here I am looking for answers.

Thx in advance

You shouldn't force yourself to like music, you're missing the entire point of music.

Maybe just recovery doesn't sound like an Eminem album and that's why you dislike the record, at least the way I see it, of course there are a few tracks on the record I enjoy, but I would take MMLP 2 over Recovery.

You got to listen to MMLP2 for sometime first to realize how amazing it actually is, then for Recovery i do suggest to do a custom track list, like throw some songs out what you don't like, for example:

1. Cold Wind Blows
2. On Fire
3. W.T.P
4. Going Trough Changes
5. Seduction
6. No Love
7. 25 To Life
8. So Bad
9. Almost Famous
10. Untitled
11. Ridaz
12. Session One

btw Chit-Chat !

Nothing wrong in disliking Recovery since it is a really odd album. Doesn't has the Eminem feeling imo. His voice is awful on most of the songs and the production is bad on half of the album. It has some highs but overall it's a mediocre album.

But... MMLP2 is REALLY a step up from Recovery. His delivery improved a lot, his punchlines too. And the production (even if it's not top notch) is a lot better than on Recovery.

And MMLP2 has fantastic songs like Bad Guy, Rhyme or Reason, Headlights, Brainless, Berzerk and much more. It's just so good and it has the Eminem feeling that Recovery was missing.

Why? You should be happy to realize they aren't good albums.
