A good director and writer. I believe he directed and wrote A Cabin In the Woods and The Avengers. He also did Buffy The Vampire Slayer as well as Fire Fly.

Whedon being a feminist (despite getting involved in some drama himself for other disagreements and stuff), this isn't surprising.

I think there's no strategy, he probably just thought the lyrics were funny. Maybe he wanted to see how people reacted to different things he said. He might even want people to hate him again because he feels bored and/or slighted by people who say he's gone soft. I doubt he thought the Lana Del Rey line would pick up so much heat though. If I were the one who was writing this verse, I would have thought the Tony Stewart line would be a bigger deal, because what it refers to is a lot more gruesome than someone getting punched. But I have a Y chromosome so what do I know.

The verse seems very deliberately constructed and it's referencing a laundry list of people involved in current events. So, I tend to think there was a strategy. But if the strategy is the same as the one in the 2000s, it may backfire at this point in time. Too much social media hype and Em is not as big as he was.

Wow...Berserk is so extremely tame for a single compared to this.

Eh, Eminem does that all the time. Just pop culture references like always. Rappers in general do this type of thing; I remember reading how Lil Wayne got in deep shit with a reference to Emmet Till. I forget the exact line. This just seems to be a LOT more brutal with a couple of lines than a lot of other references Em's made through his entire career. Of course, there's no way of knowing anything.

I agree though, I think it was Peter Rosenberg who said that it's sorta dangerous for him to do that kind of thing in this day and age. Of course it's entertaining to me as a fan to hear some of the things he's saying.
