What happened to Em

Postby Fa-Q » Jan 4th, '09, 20:40

Why do you think Eminem lost his fire as his carrer progressed besides SSLP and MMLP because it was a step up as far as production but Im talking about the multis and the fire he had in rock bottom or in still dont give a fuck...remember that fire that you felt that wanted to make you a shady souldier I remember after 9 years after MMLP was dropped

I think it's just his concepts that have just gotten retarded, like when he does a good concept he brings the fire:

When I'm Gone?
Like Toy Soldiers

but the problem is, his most recent concepts have been either party songs or songs that were supposed to be hardcore (who want it) that he turned to party songs, which I just don't understand.

what ? why ? The Eminem Show was dope as fuck.
Cuz we done swam with the sharks, wrestle with alligators
Spoke to a generation of angry teenagers
Whom if it wasn't for rap to bridge the gap
Maybe raised to be racist
Who may have never got to see our faces
Grace the cover of Rolling Stone pages
Broke down barriers of language and races

Well first off Eminem Show was a classic, but disregarding that the answer is simple. Emotional shit stopped happening to him.

SSLP- His life overall sucked. Drugs were an issue. He was poor and hated his wife.

MMLP- He was going through all the family shit. Still hated his wife. Detoxing from the drug use. And he was still hungry.

TES- He got his daughters, shit was calming down and he was slaying his final demons.

Encore- Nothing was going on, he wasn't inspired to make an album, he was forced into it. Therefore the album was lacking.

The Re-Up- Well that was just about kind of advertising his artists, but mainly about making money.

if you knew you were at a point in your career where you no longer have to give 100% and still make the same money, wouldn't you do the same?

it happens to a lot of rappers, because they cant keep talkin about bein poor and shit, after they have 2 Diamond albums (in em's case). I actually think he had plenty of fire in eminem show, but just talked about diff. things (plus he was sober). Eminem show is a fuckin classic, right on par w/ marshall mathers lp in my opinion. Encore, he just ran outta shit to say, completely. But he could've shortened the album and taken out like 6 tracks, and it would've ended up bein a really good album. Re-Up was promoting shady records new artists, supposed to be a mixtape. put it this way, if it ended up being a mixtape, its would've been one of the best mixtapes i've ever heard. I bet Relapse will be a mix between MMLP and TES, it will have plenty of serious songs but then he will mix it up w/ his old "dont give a fuck" style.

Good point...Em might of just stop trying so hard cause he didn't have too.

Hope he is trying on Relapse

well "hope he is trying on Relapse" he said the reason he's doing this album is to show people how he raps, which probably means he's not doing it for the money or because he has too.. that's the reason I have hope.

I think he still is genious but no one is gonna keep there style really. it always changes as you get older. so i guess he got older and relized talking about killing people and drugs isn't him anymore.plus his daughters are teens now and they deff hear the music. so i think thats really one of the main reasons. ppl change and he deff matured.but he still got that fire. he'll show you in relaspe. ;)

Yeah he actually has a lot of concepts to think about it. Disses to Wayne for taking shots at 50, dissing new music in general, dissing people who thought he fell off, maybe he might have a line about Bush not being pres anymore. We just have to wait and see.

no, i make music for myself and for my fans and i am not into money that much, just friends and family, although money is good, i'd still dedicate my life to music cuz that is what i love to do so if i didn't put 100% effort into my music, i would halt :o

how the fuck would you know?

your walking in your own shoes, right now. If you were in his position I'm POSITIVE you would have folded WAY before he did.

stop acting like your that much better, there's a reason he's one of the best rappers ever, but everyone folds at one point and you would have folded quicker than my dick after sex.

TruEmFan wrote:Em had one bad album. One. The only reason people think he fell off is because he didn't come back from that bad album yet. It's like when Jay-Z came out with Kingdome Come. A lot of people were disappointed, but Jay immediately came back with American Gangster to shut people up. There's no reason to dwell on Kingdom Come since Jay just released 15 really good songs.

The problem with Em is that it's been more than 4 years since Encore, and there's still nothing Em has shown us to make us forget about it. Which is why fans are still talking about that album. I swear, I have never seen so many people hung up on a CD before.

I also don't buy the excuse that he has run out of shit to talk about. Just from reading his book made me realize that his life can provide endless material for him to write about. Now, whether he wants to use those personal experiences in his music, is essentially up to him, but there are plenty of stuff Em can say.

I can see why a lot of fans aren't optimistic about Relapse, but come on, what are you guys judging that album based off of? Random guest appearances he's done? Why do those bad songs, that can easily be counted on both of my hands, overshadow the first 3 brilliant albums and select features and freestyles/verses he's done in the past?

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I don't write off one of my favorite artists based on one bad album. Especially if that album could have possibly been excused for being bad (with the leaked tracks and everything  ), but I ain't even going to get into that.

After reading that I completely agree. Also... Encore wasn't a terrible album. It's still better than 85% of the retarded donkey shit we hear these days anyways.
