SSLP- His life overall sucked. Drugs were an issue. He was poor and hated his wife.
MMLP- He was going through all the family shit. Still hated his wife. Detoxing from the drug use. And he was still hungry.
TES- He got his daughters, shit was calming down and he was slaying his final demons.
Encore- Nothing was going on, he wasn't inspired to make an album, he was forced into it. Therefore the album was lacking.
The Re-Up- Well that was just about kind of advertising his artists, but mainly about making money.

Good point...Em might of just stop trying so hard cause he didn't have too.
Hope he is trying on Relapse

no, i make music for myself and for my fans and i am not into money that much, just friends and family, although money is good, i'd still dedicate my life to music cuz that is what i love to do so if i didn't put 100% effort into my music, i would halt

A lot of people were disappointed, but Jay immediately came back with American Gangster to shut people up. There's no reason to dwell on Kingdom Come since Jay just released 15 really good songs.
The problem with Em is that it's been more than 4 years since Encore, and there's still nothing Em has shown us to make us forget about it. Which is why fans are still talking about that album. I swear, I have never seen so many people hung up on a CD before.
I also don't buy the excuse that he has run out of shit to talk about. Just from reading his book made me realize that his life can provide endless material for him to write about. Now, whether he wants to use those personal experiences in his music, is essentially up to him, but there are plenty of stuff Em can say.
I can see why a lot of fans aren't optimistic about Relapse, but come on, what are you guys judging that album based off of? Random guest appearances he's done? Why do those bad songs, that can easily be counted on both of my hands, overshadow the first 3 brilliant albums and select features and freestyles/verses he's done in the past?
I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I don't write off one of my favorite artists based on one bad album. Especially if that album could have possibly been excused for being bad (with the leaked tracks and everything), but I ain't even going to get into that.
