Eminem's Attempt To Bring Slim Shady Back Have Failed

The difference between slim shady on sslp and mmlp....compared to on relapse is simple right?

On for example, MMLP, slim shady tracks maintain some kind of meaning while still having that slim shady edge.....

for example, kill you -

lines like "they say i cant rap about bein broke no more....they dint say i cnt rap about coke no more" classic slim shady while keeping it relevant or on who knew -

"Oh - you want me to watch my mouth, how?
Take my fuckin eyeballs out, and turn em around?
Look - I'll burn your fuckin house down, circle around
and hit the hydrant, so you can't put your burning furniture out"

so tracks like who knew, criminal, drug ballad, bitch please feel relevant and have purpose but still reveal slim shady's wicked thoughts

then you get to relapse, where he eminem depseratly tries to bring back the slim shady persona on tracks like - stay wide awake, 3am, underground, medicine bal etc etc etc but these tracks seem to lack any kind of meaning or purpose and end up eminem just dronin on about killin people and all these retarded thoughts

dont get me wrong i fuckin love underground for example......but you gotta admit, it doesnt seem to go anywhere or make you think.......about anything in particular

I think some people take the whole Slim Shady persona way too seriously. Yeah, he tried to bring it back on Relapse, but of course it's gonna be different from before. Especially with how fans view it. They want Em to come back like he used to, but then acknowledge the fact that you can't really remake that shit again. I mean... That's not fair, right?

I agree. Lyrics sound forced and it makes Em seem uncreative. He went from "Slim Shady" lyrics to more "Eminem" style lyrics and wasn't brave to make the next move - so he asks Dre "What do people want to hear from me?". And Dre goes "People want you to flip out again" (Forgot which interview that was on).

Yeah, some songs on the Relapse "Slim Shady" are listenable, but shows little growth in a new direction. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to listen to a whole bunch of depressing/dark songs but Relapse should have put some songs like "My Darling" on it (a nice mix of Classic/New Eminem and no gay accent).

Underground is epic. The beat and lyrics are insane. Its supposed to be like em going back to his roots in underground battling where its just rhyming what comes to mind. Did you really want the song to be one subject about how he is under the ground during a rainstorm like the chorus suggests? smh

And regarding the new slim shady, I like it. People were complaining before about how they want him crazy again and he comes with crazy and they are still complaining? You want him to build a time machine and make a new album in 1999 and bring it back to the future? Give him a break, he is a completely different person than he was in 1999/2000.

em once said in an interview, that he never liked the idea of listening to his albums and hearing the same style/tone/beats/mood, maybe even as far as the same delivery. He wants to hear something different each album... so i guess that's just another reason why he made relapse the way it is... so different.

it's like slim doesn't have the ability to blend anymore. he used to talk about his views, people, and himself with a sort of hostile sarcasm, but now it just tends to be a pointless craziness. not that i really mind too much, but it can lose it's effect
