Mistake in "Stan"

This seems like a pretty... Odd mistake. Like too big not to notice, especially given the amount of times he goes over rhymes in his head and re-writes shit.

I've always noticed it and it's always bugged me a bit lmao.

He says:
"I know you probably hear this everyday but I'm your biggest fan"

Then about his brother he says:
"He wants to be just like you man, he likes you more than I do"

So he stresses he's his biggest fan but then says his own brother likes him more than he does in the next verse lol. I know Stan is a psycho so contradicting himself shouldn't seem so out of the ordinary.

But just seems like a pretty... Obvious mistake for him to make ...

I believe there is a difference between a fan and liking someone.

He is em's biggest fan, but his brother likes him more than he does.

Think of it this way, people can love someones music but never buy a cd, not care about their music videos, buying merchandise etc, but can like them more than a big fan. For instance, people on this site criticize him all the time, even though most would claim to be huge fans.

When he performs it live he says "He likes you more than Dido". However, I do think that being a fan of someone's work, and liking them CAN be 2 separate things.

I don't think Em would have let a mistake like that get through in that track. I'm quite certain he did that deliberately.

One example is in "Cum on Everybody" he says...

"I'm bored out of my gored so I TOOK a hammer..."

I'M BORED = Present tense. As in, I'm bored... Right now.

I TOOK = Past tense. As in, I was bored, yesterday.

So to say "I'm bored... So I took" doesn't make sense really lol. But I think it's more to do with his natural Detroit grammar. Every inner-city (mine included) has like... Natural slang occurances in the way they speak that is wrong grammatically but becomes the norm in where they're from.
