Evil Eminem - Fucking Funny

Just listening to The Eminem Show again, specifically on "Say What You Say" right now.

I mean, easily the most forgettable track of the album for me... I think maybe because of Dre's bland production but Em's verses are classic.

I just laughed aloud at "If I could only use this power for good... I wouldn't, not even if I could". That's the type of humour / Em that makes me laugh. Evil, with a straight face. As apposed to wacky or fucking dead people with lipstick on... That's entertaining when he's doing it but it's too easy.

But lines like that are just fucking funny. The psychology in them is just hilarious. "Not even if I could", has to let you know that regardless of whether he could or not he wouldn't, emphasizing his own accountability in his evil selfishness lmfao, hilarious.

Also - "I joke when I say I'm the best in the booth but a lot of truth is said in jest" is one of his most genius lines ever. That is a fucking clever way of being arrogant... Without being arrogant, declaring yourself the best without actually saying it but using the language as your tool... People who think clowns like Wayne touch the sides of this man are insane.

Yeah I agree with you menzo, but I also agree with eminembase. I think this song too was one song I don't listen to much if at all really from, imo, his best album. But his verses are dope

I think the lines you pointed out from this song are good examples of him being funny but serious at the same time, I guess it's just something he can do that most can't

Only Em that makes me laugh is serious, dark, ironic Eminem. That line is a perfect example. He has a very British sense of irony IMO and I think it's probably from listening to Slick Rick so much lmao.

But MMLP for example, just constant straight-faced, dark irony and it makes me laugh out loud. Stuff like sticking your dick up a stuffed doll covered in chocolate is just too easy to me and not funny.

I agree, that's the Em I like. The sarcastic, don't care, saying whatever he wants Em is the one I find the most entertaining. Not the immature, celeb "we made you/ass like that/fack" Em. Hopefully we'll get lots of that Em on R2.

Em plays irony like no other rapper. I agree with most of the comments that his clever ironic subtle side - played best in Criminal - is far funnier than his 9 year old immature "stick a hamster up my ass" side.

The type of humor is what Em does best, but i can still have a laugh when Em is silly, just goofing around. But it's not the same, the evil Em is so god damn serious I go

And no, barely nothing he says made me actually laugh my ass off. Takes a lot to do that to me but just because I say it's "fucking funny" doesn't mean I'm sat here in stitches lmao.

I know that sounds odd but I'm just saying the intention of it, the writing, his mindset with it is fucking hilarious upon analysis. Even in concept, just the core mentality is fucking hilarious.

It only ever raised a smirk from me too but the audacity and... Re-visiting of it makes me actually laugh. I often see people pick out IMO such... Boring Em lines lmao.

Like people will literally hear a verse and pick out the most obvious, tame, cliche' bit of typical Em humour and just miss the irony or character play or reference. I feel he does in your face irony the best. I find ALL of his sides entertaining but that's the only side I find funny.
