Well I don't buy into the automatic not buying into of all 'hype'.
Mr. Porter quite clearly wasn't blowing smoke up hip-hop's ass. He's one of Em's closest and oldest friends, not a CEO of Interscope or a new Shady ba ba trying to win milk money from da da.
He was speaking very earnestly, honestly, openly and quite clearly about Relapse 2 of all places on an almost unheard of UK Hip-Hop Station. Tiny outlet. If he wanted to spread la-la, that's not the the place to do it.
Plus you can tell he's not like that by what he's saying and how too. Regardless of how Relapse 2 turns out, I genuinely believe that Mr. Porter was genuine in his comments, you can obviously hear that. And it's the type of comments he says.
They're not the usual "Yeah man it's crazy". He paused, thought about it and said "I'm as happy with this album as I am ANY other classic album". Now regardless of how much bias you think he'll have and blah blah blah, it still has to be something pretty FUCKING amazing to make him say anything close to that.
And that was in November 2009! If things have really been continuously improving wtf does he have on his hands now. He may literally be trying to create THEE best rap album ever.
Because he was very openly declaring it well above R1. He didn't sing the praises of the 1st one that much at all, he just said that was Em coming off drugs and listen to how clear he sounds. And he was like, now think of that mindstate much clearer, today, x50 etc. I just believe they have something special.
And what Em was saying. It's all about his ambitions now. Relapse 1 was just about shocking and going back to horrorcore. Now it seems like he's trying to make a big statement in music again. By saying he hasn't made that perfect album that's totally relevant etc. and by saying he's going for songs and not one-liners now.
And his lyricism in the Westwood sessions? Pfff, out of this fucking world. No way that this album will be a dud in any sense and I think people who are saying that must be close to fucking insane. How do you work that out. He's more focused and sober than EVER now. Even at his 'peak'.
He's even got 'rhyming for rhymes sake' out of his system with the 1st one but his rhyming is INCREDIBLE again. Also, his flows are better than EVER. And now that he's quite clearly changing the subject matter and making it a more focused and ambitious project, I really think he's gonna outdo himself.
With his current level of lyricism, his maturity... I mean, I admit I haven't heard his 'classic' irony for a while but he's smarter than ever now, has been through a lot and has a new perspective, he's clear-headed, he's got something to PROVE NOW = Big difference.
I'm predicting it'll be his best. Too focused. And I can't wait to hear what other production has brought out of him because don't forget, for his entire career we've only heard him on Dre's or his own (with Bass Bros). And as we know, Em listens to beats, he gets ideas from beats. These guys he's working with will be bringing totally different beats.
Mr. Porter said there's some content nobody has ever heard him on before...
Everything is just too perfect for him to fail. At WORST I think he'll create a GREAT album that's UP THERE with MMLP and TES but I'm actually gonna say and predict now that it'll be his best work.
He's 37, he's got a few years left. I really think he's giving this cunt his all.
People who are saying it's gonna suck dick? Lmfao in what respect. Go listen to fucking candy Internet rappers brag about Iced out chains and cheesy punchlines relating to dead rappers ffs.
.....
.....but seriously hes been working so hard and the comments about it and all the diverse producers ...its bound to blow his past works out
