Closing the book on R1 era, memories

Postby mbmfan » Mar 2nd, '10, 15:18

Since we're a few days from the anniversary of Marshall's Relapse 1 press release, and I was watching the Grammy performance, seeing the anger back in his performance, which I liked, I started to reminisce to a year ago, when Em first stepped back on the scene, and what we all expected from Relapse.

Last March was perfect promotional time for Em, as he got to induct Run DMC into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which was an honor because they could have got a lot of other people to do that. This was also the first time we got to see him in the public in FOREVER. Then there was the NCAA Final Four, which was in Detroit. Perfect timing and location for Em, as he got a feature on the Final Four show, and Michigan St. was in the Final Four, which is Pauly's alma mater, not to mention Em loves Basketball.

But my favorite R1 memory was the much anticipated "We Made You" video premier, which was announced in Em's March press release as coming in April, the 7th I believe, on MTV, a month before Relapse releasing the following month in May.

I remember the days before the video premier, it was announced that We Made You would premiere on MTV's new show AMTV, at 6AM EST in the morning and would repeat at the top of the hour every hour for the show's duration. I remember how everyone on here was trying to see exclusive pics and clips from the video, just days before the premier, but nothing came until a few hours before the premiere, LOL and I don't remember if that guy was BS'ing or not. But it was really funny when we were debating on here if we were going to stay up all nite to watch the premiere, or go to bed early and wake up early to watch the premiere. LOL, I wasn't a member at the time, but I was right along with the stay up all niters, bc I waited 4 dam years for this, and wanted to see the video when it premiered, and did not want to wait.

LOL, then when the video premiered, it was fun to analyze the different references in the video, and try and figure out what Em meant. Like why was Fifty wearing a Mariah Carey T-Shirt, the "Rain Man" reference, Em loosing at Blackjack, Birthday Cake, making out with Amy Winehouse, the Star Trek studio that we saw from a MTV interview a few weeks prior.

All of this and the recent news we've been getting, really has me going with the theory that R2 will come in May, a year after the first Relapse. Thus we'll be getting a press release in the coming days. I also really think that Em will come on R2 the way that we thought he would on R1. With that Grammy performance and other recent tracks, I can hear that Old Shady, i.e. Anger, back in his voice.

Anyway, the We Made You video premiere is my favorite R1 memory. What are everyone else's?

Yeah, was a great time. The first time you heard and saw We Made You. I also liked listening to the whole album when it first leaked, we waited for so long for new Eminem stuff and suddenly you have 15 brand new songs

Can't wait for Relapse 2, a whole bunch of new songs, music video's and singles :y: I hope like you we'lll get a rpess release soon though, I bet it isn't too far away ;)

I jus can't wait to hear the new production mixed with Em's new style, it's gonna be a completley different sound. I sure hope some type of news is around the corner...a snippet would be nice ;) :8)

The best memory was most definetly the night Relapse leaked, i must have gone through the songs over and over for hours and hours. When it leaked i listened to it in the order of the tracklist and so i was really disapointed up untill stay wide awake and than things got better and better. I then went to see everyones reaction on here but i couldnt get on for ages.

Same except i didn't listen to them in order, cause i would then get the album and then listen to it start to finish to hear the transitions etc and all that, if you get what i mean, i wasnt really disappointed neither i was just hyped that em was back.

My best memory was the night when I was online at msn, so I decided to see what was new in the EminemBrasil Forum, when I see that the news had leaked three songs Relapse: Insane, My mon, Bagpipes from Baghdad. So that made me wait longer at the forum, hoping that the whole album leaked a few minutes later, I think 10 or 15 minutes later, I saw the topic in the download area of the forum: Eminem - Relapse. I almost do not believe that after 5 years I was about to hear another new album of my favorite rapper. So I fast, I put the album down and went to sleep, I admit that I fell asleep thinking about the album, wondering how the songs would Finally, when I awoke in the morning, put the album to play and I do my meal, shower, put the album on the iPod and went to school, getting there I told the news to my friends who like rap and break again heard the album, were the happiest memories of R1 ...
