Recovery Criticism

Postby lh2shay » Jun 8th, '10, 10:09

i made this thread so you all let it out,, even if you think the album is the best ever,, just say the worse things you didn't like about the album, songs,,ect

personally, i think the album was great overall BUT unlike his other albums, i felt eminem used the same style/voice in rapping all through the album (im not talking about the accent here), which made all the songs sound the same kinda
plus, he could of used Pink better (e.g. radio hit).
other than that its all good for now
I'mma be what I set out to be, without a doubt undoubtedly

After 7 hours straight of listening instead of studying i think the album is great. His second best.

My complaints
-Pink track(Really could have made a hit but i guess a hit with Rihanna and Pink would have been :confusion: )
-the chick singing on Space Bound
-Em singing poorly on You're Never Over(Which could have been intentional)

But this is really clutching at straws to find something bad. I

strong reading comprehension.

he said he used the same flow for this entire album.

imo the only track where he really changed it up was WTP.

i like the album, but i have no idea how the replay factor is gonna be, because like the OP said most of the songs sound alike.

i agree,, the singing in "You're never over" wasn't good. and i also think him coming in the hook for going through changes wasn't that good too.

I think it was on purpose on you're never over, because it was a light hearted while deep track, and him and proof were always takin the piss out of singing ballads and foolin around. Still dope, cos you know its personal.

oh also, don't you think he used a lot of samples in the album, he could used real features instead and boosted his sales.. maybe make 50 cent lay a hook or something for that space bound joint instead so that all the 50 stans buy the album

No he used a few styles throughout the album. But many different flows.

He also used mainly one style throughout Relapse too. You have to do that to keep the album sounding consistent, it shouldn't sound like 20 tracks from 20 different rappers. Point is, he makes every ALBUM sound different.

He used mainly the same voice throughout SSLP, MMLP and TES... AND Encore. He switched up his flows on all of them from track to track but toneatically mainly the same. This is part of what defines his albums.

So of course he's going to sound similar on many Recovery tracks. But the flows are totally different. And just to give you a huge contrast in sound "Won't Back Down" vs. "You're Never Over" for starters.

Yep forgot to add that. But then if he did we will probably have em fans going.. WHY SO MANY FEATURES ETC ETC(I probably would have reacted this way) Lets face it no pleasing Em fans. But this is his second best album for me.

His singing was terrible. If you can't sing don't sing! Even if it's possible to make you sound ok with autotune it's still crap.

Thought his flows were a let down although they weren't "bad". Just expected more I guess.
