... or at least that's what I'll be consoling myself with for the time being. I'm not saying he specifically wants beef. He obviously doesn't, judging by the Talkin' to Myself. But he's throwing subliminals in Giggles's direction on this one. Let's have a look at the lyrics ...
EMINEM: They say the competition is stiff
But I get a hard dick from this sh-t, now stick it in
Competition is stiff. After Em's initial downfall, this ... shit, this ABOMINATION of an artist by the name of Giggles has stepped in and filled the void, inexplicably. Regardless of the fact that he can't string together a halfway decent lyric, he's the king right now in terms of popularity. So the recovery of Em's career is an uphill battle due to the competition, but he doesn't care. He's excited by it. He'll throw that competition on a track beside him and show the world just how much better he is.
EMINEM: Look at these rappers, how I treat em
So why the f-ck would I join them when I beat em
GIGGLES: Yeah!
This is fairly straightforward, and I think it's the most blatant evidence for the fact that Em is collabing with Giggles in order to demonstrate his own skill by contrast. This could be a nod to fans like myself, who are aware of Giggles's tremendous lack of talent, and how tragic it would be if he and Em actually developed some sort of long-term alliance. Why would Em join Giggles when he's SO very many levels above him? And then of course we have Giggles doing his cry/scream/laugh thing in the background, saying "Yeah!" and affirming Em's treatment of his goofy little ass. The hilarity of that can't be lost on Em.
EMINEM: Man get these whack cocksuckers off stage
Where the fuck is Kanye when you need him?
Snatch the mic from him, bitch I'mma let you finish in a minute
Em's nearly flawless verse comes after Giggles's mediocre verse, just like Em's return to dominance comes after Giggles's reign of pathetic crybaby autotune, monosyllabic, rarely-rhyming, sloppy ass music. Chronologically, Em is basically snatching the mic from Giggles like Kanye snatched it from Taylor Swift. But Em will let him finish in a minute. Once he's done, hip-hop can go back to its shitty condition under Giggles, his Canadian teen soap opera sidekick, et all.
EMINEM: Yeah the rap is tight, But I'm
GIGGLES: Yeah!
The first verse was good (as many of you have been very passionate about), but ...
EMINEM: bout to spit the greatest verse of all time
... the first verse really doesn't matter because the second is miles and miles and miles ahead of that elementary school bullshit.
EMINEM: So you might want to go back to the lab tonight and um
GIGGLES: Yeah!
EMINEM: Scribble out them rhymes you were going to spit
And start over from scratch and write new ones
But I'm afraid that it ain't gonna make no difference
After hearing Eminem's verse, Giggles should have respectfully withdrawn his from the song, and went to work on a new one. However, fuck it. It wouldn't matter, because even if Giggles figured out that putting effort into writing actually yields decent lines, he would still suck in comparison to Em.
EMINEM: When I rip this stage and tear it in half tonight
This just goes back to the idea of contrast. Em is mingling with this talentless garbage partially to demonstrate how far ahead he is in comparison. Two rappers. Once is legendary, and one is a disgustingly inadequate lyricist. When Em spits his second verse, he basically rips the stage in half, demonstrating the stark contrast between their skill levels.
Like I said, I'm not saying they're not cool with each other. I'm aware that Eminem twittered some pro-Giggles shit basically while I was writing this post. But on some level, he's using the silly little crybaby to recover, mostly by demonstrating his superiority in black and white terms. If you think this is far-fetched, sorry, but this is how subliminals work. An emcee subliminally dissing his friend is not unheard of -- that's part of the reason for keeping the diss subliminal. It's nothing personal. Just a matter of skill.
