Recovery on Metacritic

Postby EminemBase » Jun 18th, '10, 17:57

Right, check it here:

No score yet but so far they have Guardian with 60 and Slant with 30. Now that the useless retards who don't get the music are out the way, the ones who count better pull through.

Drake's got 80/100 on metacritic, that's just fucking ridiculous. Album is trash and to even jokingly say it compares to Recovery in ANY sense is ridiculous. Lyrically it doesn't hold a fucking match stick up to it.

Just because Em is so huge now people can't stand continuing to praise him. The media build up heroes then try to destroy them but it's getting really unfair now. Especially with the trash-reviews on Relapse just because they didn't like his themes ffs.

Fans are loving it though and that's more important than any review. :y:

I honestly don't normally give a fuck about reviews.

But this is pathetically unfair. :shakehead:

To be honest, I don't think I've ever seen such a gap between the views of fans, and the opinions of critics

Most Em fans are really feeling this album, with many rating it over one or more of his first 3 albums, but critics just aren't getting it and I dont know why

People take it quite seriously right? especially in comparison to other music sites.

(Or have I got it confused with something else?)

Well Metacritc take the reviews of most major reviewers, Pitchfork, Stant, Allmusic, etc, and they give an average score based on the reivews that the album recieved, its a good source as they have links to all the reviews that they get their score from

People should never listen to the critics, i don't know whats with all this "listen to critics and let them decide for you" some poeple are too dumb and fall for that, what counts is for you to listen to it and decide if YOU like it or not, thats what really counts.

Metacritic is a shitty source for almost anything (music, movies, game reviews). Paying attention to it would be the most dumbass thing anyone could do.

waiting for RollingStone, XXL, EWeekly, NY Times, and LA Times reviews. Those are usually the big time reviews.

No that's not the point of criticism for intelligent people at all.

Point is, if I think something is a masterpiece I'm going to think that regardless. Regardless of what anybody else thinks, if I think it... I think it. But if I then go and see a lot of other critical thinkers think the same as me, it's liberating and refreshing.

It's also nice to see likeminded people digress on something sharing the same point of view but seeing things in a different way. Like any good conversation. So, if I think an album is a classic, it's only right to want to see it justified as such on a major scale. It's no coincidence that The Marshall Mathers LP is thought of as one of the most powerful hip-hop albums ever by most critics. It's not by chance. There's good reason for it.

There is such a good thing as good music and bad music. Good comedy, bad comedy. Hence why... Gervais continuously knows how to please. Despite everybody relying on the good old "Yeah but it's ONLY opinion" and "it's all subjective" anyway stuff, there is a point to it and it does matter.

Just for shits and giggles, Slant also gave Marshall Mathers LP a 1.5/5
