I was one of the few not wanting personal music on Recovery. The personal tracks are good but amongst my lowest rated on the album. He's put so many spins on his life now, I literally can't take anymore lmao.
He hasn't even done that many songs about Kim, Hailie or his mother but even so; all those are done to death. As is his entrapment with fame, his relationship with the media etc.
"Almost Famous" is a step in the right direction. Creativity, concepts, new ideas, that's what we need. I don't listen to an Eminem album for an update in the soap opera, I just want to hear him at his best lyrically, blowing my mind.
Proof song felt fresh because we hadn't heard him on it and the pill situation, okay he hadn't fully done it but now that he's taken the piss out of it (Relapse) and reported honestly on it, there's no need to ever do any further material on it.
I hope he just continues being creative now.
To be honest, Eminem is at his best when he raps about what he knows. When he raps about things he doesn't know about (eg. Mosh and every gangsta track he's ever done) he sounds awkward and clumsy.
I don't want him to try to be something he's not.
Almost Famous was recounting his rise to fame. How was that a new idea? If anything it was re-visiting an old topic.
