Eminem needs to make an updated version of Infinite

On that album he was talking about the world outside of his family. He should go back to that. No more albums about his family. Recovery should force him to move to something different now.

I agree, I'm sick of personal issues ruling his music.

I was one of the few not wanting personal music on Recovery. The personal tracks are good but amongst my lowest rated on the album. He's put so many spins on his life now, I literally can't take anymore lmao.

He hasn't even done that many songs about Kim, Hailie or his mother but even so; all those are done to death. As is his entrapment with fame, his relationship with the media etc.

"Almost Famous" is a step in the right direction. Creativity, concepts, new ideas, that's what we need. I don't listen to an Eminem album for an update in the soap opera, I just want to hear him at his best lyrically, blowing my mind.

Proof song felt fresh because we hadn't heard him on it and the pill situation, okay he hadn't fully done it but now that he's taken the piss out of it (Relapse) and reported honestly on it, there's no need to ever do any further material on it.

I hope he just continues being creative now.

I wouldnt count on it, the few times I've heard him mention that album he refers to it as a "Demo that got pressed up as an album" and he acts like he wants to forget it happened. Alot of people just praise that album cause its the one that failed, so it has like a cult status amongst super fans, had Em kept making records like that he'd be on welfare flipping burgers somewhere right now, lol.

"Open Mic" was cool tho

I just listened to that Big BOi album. It's alright, but u realize how many MCs don't really talk about their personal lives.

To be honest, Eminem is at his best when he raps about what he knows. When he raps about things he doesn't know about (eg. Mosh and every gangsta track he's ever done) he sounds awkward and clumsy.

I don't want him to try to be something he's not.

Almost Famous was recounting his rise to fame. How was that a new idea? If anything it was re-visiting an old topic.

He sounded clumsy on Mosh? R U serious? The gangsta sh1t I agree w/. I blame 50 for negative influence. But he's good when he writes in character. So he should become a character on 12 different songs. Walk around the city and write songs from the perspective of different people u see. How hard could that be? I really want a deep album out of dude. I know he's capable. Just like 8mile. He was rich when he made the soundtrack, but he wrote it from the perspective of the character in the movie, and the sh1t was classic.

@Amadeo - Yes but talking about what he knows doesn't have to be limited to his own life.

He's extremely abstract in his lyricism most of the time, referencing a large array of things. He's at his most boring when he's just being absolute and realistic and just talking purely about his own life.

There are exceptions like "The Way I Am" and "Rock Bottom" but generally speaking, he's better when he's being creative or metaphorical.

In respects to "Almost Famous" - the themes of it aren't new, of course, he's rapping as himself as if on the rise to fame again. But the song itself is a concept, it's creative because he's rapping as an old version of himself, in the present, it's new in its execution.

He was never an obsessive fan of himself either but he still created "Stan". He also didn't literally kill Kim and take his daughter on a car ride and explain it to her yet still created "97' Bonnie and Clyde". Songs like that are far more interesting, artistically valid and exciting than songs like "Talkin' 2 Myself".
