I've never understood why the lyrics get critized so much. Tons of albums that get released these days are full of superficial themes that the rapper obviously hasn't experienced in real life.
There isn't that much difference between a movie and a music album. Both are entertainment, both are telling stories. Some people think you aint "lyrical" when you tell stories that the listener can't relate to. It's like saying all horror movies aren't well written. The same goes for comedy songs - isn't it lyrical when you make people laugh? It takes more than a fart sound.
Songs like Same song and dance, Insane, Stay wide awake and 3 a.m. are all telling a story, and if you ask me, they are all very, very good.
I'm not trying to make Relapse sound flawless, cus it definitely had some weak songs.
