I dont have a mixer but I rap over beats freestyle alot
mind you my freestyles aint structured in a realistic sense
I kinda of mess up words and then make like 5 words outta that one I messed up on and then retract and listen to the song over again and then rap with lyrics I've written to someones beat if I like it

even audacity which is free can multitrack, live multitrack recording is best way to get acurate flow, unless your latency is off, but thats another story.
