Sentus- Gambit [EP]

Postby classthe_king » Jan 4th, '13, 22:48

1. Intro
2. Hip-Hop
3. Beautiful Sorrow
4. Cobwebs
5. Fly Away (Feat. Phantom & Mykill)
6. Feel Alive
7. Coming To An End
8. Don't Compare Me To You

This is basically just a lil tape of me experimenting with different styles and trying out everything. Also, I was tired of people asking me if I had any cd's out and not being able to give them anything. I had a couple (a lot) of collabs fall through so that's why it will seems short but fuck it, I said I was going to put it out before my break was over and that's what I'm doing. Also, the site made me turn the files from mp3's into AIFF files and for some reason that fucked up the volumes of some of the songs and I'm not sure why so adjust accordingly.

Feel free to leave feedback or whatever. All I ask is that you listen to it. There should be a song for everyone.

I'll feed this tonight, man. I have a recording session for the next few hours.

I'm listening to the first track at the moment though and it sounds good, yo.

Here is my review. Although I've already heard half of this over the past year-ish, the verses haven't gotten bland or anything. Why does the tracklist on your post say Fly Away rather than In The End? Not going to do some detailed analysis, you don't really need it, just some thoughts on the tracks I haven't heard before. The verses were generally all dope. My favourites are Cobwebs, Intro, Beautiful Sorrow, and In The End.

Intro
This is very good, and one of the best parts of the EP. Several quotables throughout this, and I especially love that Eve line. I feel it really set the tone for the tape well. And I know you've been wanting to record this song for a long time now, the piano backdrop and all. It worked really well.

Hip Hop
This is interesting actually. I loved the references to Atmosphere, Eyedea, Rakim, Sadistik, etc. I didn't expect that at all. I think a lot of people would respect that. The chorus got repetitive after a while though.

Feel Alive
The 2nd verse was awesome, you went in. The first verse reminded me of that song you did on the Apex tape. I think you should've ended this earlier because it went on 1 minute of just instrumental.

Hopefully this gets good reception from your peeps at uni too.

I really enjoyed this from start to finish. It sounded really professional.

Favorite songs:
Beautiful Sorrows, Cobwebs, Feel Alive.

Favorite lines:
"The only person I'd take a bullet for was the one behind the trigger"
"Your career is the square root of -1" Tbh most lines on Dont Compare Me To You are very creative.

Listening now.. Everything is pretty solid. The lyrics are good and your mixing is good. I love the places that you double up your voice, that's mixed quite well. Your delivery is really good too. There's a good amount of emotion in your voice. The only thing I can knock is your actual voice - especially on the intro. It sounds like you have a cold and you are trying to rap through your nose in a way.. Other than that, there's not much I can knock.

I'm listening through it, dude.

To be honest, this is really good. I already knew you had good lyrics and stuff though.

Your voice on the Intro at parts seemed too loud on the beat, but that's just me....

Anyway, good shit.

Oh and for Solace: :smoking:
