Promotional vs. Commercial

Postby Cwayon_Murder » Feb 3rd, '08, 21:43

Whenever I look for free beats, I see that it usually says "for prmotional use only." Does this mean I can use it only if I don't sell it?

Kinda a dumb question.

I see...does that mean I have to give mention to the creator of the beat?

promotion use means that you can use this beat for myspace, soundclick, demo's, mixtapes, EPs, Lp's as long as you don't intend to sell your songs..which i dont think your doing so your set to use the beat and also the producer doesnt have to be mentioned not like he'll take you to court cause you didnt mention his name..but it is appreciated from the producer if you mention his name btw check my beats you might find somfin you like

yeh man you got it right lol

just make sure you ask the producer (unless they have it on a soundclick and specifie people can use it without asking them) not that youll break laws but its just curtosy, also when you sell a mixtape the only thing people are paying for is the artwork, the cover and the delivery..the music is free, so if you have a "promotinal mixtape" the beats do not need to be bought and yes you can make money of it, it isnt 100% legal but nor is it illegal..its a loop hole, coz the only way you would get sued is if you sold around 25,000 copies of the mixtape, if you sell any less than that it will cost the people more to take you to court than they would get from you..so you can make money from promotional songs

Haha, that's pretty cool, thanks for telling me. I might actually do that. I'm a little broke right now.

I'm still learning how to make beats with FL studio, and so far I suck hard. So I'll start looking for some free beats soon.
