D12 Misses Their Flight to Australian Festival!

IF you build it, they will come. That was the theory behind the Heatwave three-day camping festival at Middleton.

But before a note was played there was bad news for music fans.

One of the event's major headliners, Detroit rap outfit D12 had reportedly missed its flight and did not perform yesterday.

Scores of angry fans vented their frustration on the festival's Facebook page.

Campers who had already arrived at the event were unaware of the no-show.

Festival organisers said they were desperately trying to reschedule the band to perform tonight while many were seeking answers as to whether refunds or exchanges would be available on their day passes for yesterday.

Eighteen-year-old Tee Streets of Adelaide said he had driven for three hours to catch his idols D12 and hoped the event could reschedule the rap outfit to perform tonight.

"We want D12," Streets said.

"They are the band I came here to see - I hope we can see them on Saturday night."

A festival spokesman said Heatwave was continuing despite the D12's "missed" flight and the band was expected to perform tonight.

"We're working on it and they should definitely be here tomorrow (Saturday) night," the spokesman said.

While crowds were small throughout Friday, numbers were expected to lift over the weekend.

"We're expecting about 2500 tonight and many more rolling in tomorrow," a spokesman said.

Heatwave may be big on beats but many used the festival as a chance to camp with friends and spend a weekend away from the city.

"I'm not really fussed about who is playing - it's just great to go camping with my friends," 17-year-old Tahlia Svingos said.

"South Australia doesn't get a lot of camping festivals - so that's why we decided to come down."

The large open space had catered for many more than had arrived on Friday with early acts playing to just a handful of fans.

The three-day camping festival, which only announced its headline act a few weeks ago, has been labelled ambitious by many in the industry.

Heatwave will continue tonight with headline act Kid Cudi who is expected to perform alongside noughties rap crossover act Crazytown.
