Rapper will perform solo Dec. 1 at Legends Nightclub in Victoria

In gangsta rap, "street cred" is more important than actual talent.

Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson was shot numerous times in an attempted murder plot, his mother was killed during a failed drug raid and he grew up on the mean streets of Queens, New York, selling drugs to make a living.

These street credentials and ensuing contract from rapper Eminem's Shady Records and Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment led to a very financially successful debut album.

Get Rich Or Die Tryin' sold 872,000 copies in its first week on the shelves, and has sold more than 11 million copies worldwide to date.

One member of 50's crew G-Unit - rapper Lloyd Banks, who's been making a name for himself on the solo circuit - will perform Dec. 1 in Victoria.

Born in New Carrollton, Maryland to a Puerto Rican mother and an African-American father, Banks moved to the New York at age one. He's a childhood friend of 50 Cent, Tony Yayo and Young Buck - the other two members of G-Unit, and has released two solo albums, the latest being 2006's Rotten Apple, all while dropping out of high school at the age of 16.

Stallion Entertainment presents G-Unit's Lloyd Banks on Friday, Dec. 1 at Legend's Nightclub, 919 Douglas St. Also performing that night are two members of the Canadian Juno Award winning rap group The Rascalz - Red 1 and DJ Kemo. DJ Stallion, Speedy Shoes and the 3rd World Assassins will also open for Banks. The concert will be hosted by T-Bone The Barber.

Tickets are $45. For more information, call 383-7137 or go online to SOURCE: http://www.legendsnightclub.com.
