How to get started on Yelawolf

Postby Shuttle Destroyer » Jul 30th, '13, 06:17

I'm listening to Trunk Musik Returns for the first time and... Damn, I be sleeping on yela for too long
Where I can start from? I mean, what's the best way to start digging his discography?

I'm a new fan of his too, it was the slumdon bridge ep (with ed sheeran) that got me interested then psycho white (the travis barker ep). When Trunk Muzik returns came out I would say that's when I became a fan, especially after seeing him live. Also like a few tracks from trunk Muzik.

I'm only now trying to get into radioactive, arena rap and heart of Dixie though. Looking forward to country cousins, been digging some of big K.R.I.T's stuff.

Glad you haller at us homie now let's make it simple.

You can start off with the EP's, such as "Slumdon Bridge" with Ed Sheeran which is really, really awesome and then Psycho White, which isn't as awesome but it's still really cool. It has one of his best song on it, called "Director's Cut" which is very Slim-Shady esque with an amazing hook.

Since you have already heard Trunk Muzik Returns, which is one of his most cohesive project, you can check Trunk Muzik the first. You'll find it here:

http://www.datpiff.com/Yelawolf-Trunk-M ... 30251.html

After that, you should check Trunk Muzik 0-60, which is basically a re-release with new songs. It's my second favorite project from Yelawolf, because it was also the first one I've heard. You can find it everywhere on the net bro.

And after that, you can check Arena Rap which is my third favorite project from him. Songs like "All Aboard" "Gone" "Candy & Dreams" are amongst his best.

Once you're done checking all of that, you can take a nap. When you wake up, you'll download Stereo. Great project too.

You can also check Radioactive, his album under Shady Records, which is far from his best project but it's still worth it because there are some gems on it. Heart of Dixie is forgettable, only 4/5 tracks are worth keeping em on your mp3.

I didn't mention everything but that should be it.

1) Slumdon Bridge
2) Psycho White
3) the Trunk Muzik mixtapes
4) Arena Rap
5) Radioactive
6) Stereo (you might not like it if you hear it right after TMR it's kinda different, you have to know who you're listening to before hearing this one)

Aight, I'm off fam.

Thanks man, glad you broke it down for me :y:
I will get right on it, then take a nap, as you suggested, and continue the findings after that

I know I'm a potential big Yela fan. I just don't have the time and enough willingness to check his music out.
So far I've heard Radioactive and it was aight (I know it isn't his best work), some verses here and there, and I always like them, and Trunk Muzik Returns which was amazing. I loved Tennessee Love in particular, but the whole EP is awesome.
I'll become a Yela fan with Love Story, the latest.
Because right now I'm busy becoming a Jay and Ye fan.

I've been trying to get into him myself, I always see you guys talking about him and I obviously knew about him but for some reason I never properly checked him out either. I downloaded most of what Trimss posted and have to say I'm another potential fan... I'd say Radioactive and Trunk Musik Returns were my 2 favourites. Gonna keep listening! :y:
