You would never hear someone like Dave Grohl saying anything about black people being guests in the Rock culture.. thats just arrogant.

this guy is a douche...

its funny how he talks about hip-hop and rap being different, and that hip-hop has a "message" then he goes on to bash Macklemors song.. which imo has a message.... regardless if he agrees with the message or not, if hip-hop has a message then macklemore's song is the definition of hip-hop.. this Lord Jamar guy is talking out his ass..

Maybe because Black people created Rock and Roll.

Anyways, white rappers understand hip hop is a black culture. Even Yelawolf said white rappers are guest in hip hop. He said this in a Vladtv interview about white rappers saying "nigga".

But saying white rappers aren't allowed to rap about certain things is ignorant and borderline racist.

It's pointless to say someone invented a music style. We can say white people invented the drumset and a black person will argue that some black guy was beating on a rock first. We can say white people invented the electric guitar and they'll point to some primitive one string instrument somewhere else as the real innovation.

It's barely worth discussing.

for arguments sake, no one person or race started rock 'n' roll. It may have been a mix of black and white people that POPULARIZED Rock and Roll. Fats Domino, Lloyd Price, Ike Turner, Hank Williams, Joe Turner, Louis Jordan, Ray Charles, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley.
Disc jockey Alan Freed popularized the phrase "rock and roll," which was black slang for having sex.

in the end, modern rock a predominantly white culture, and its insulting to say anyone is a "guest" in any music genre.. its music. race should have absolutely nothing to do with it.
