Update on "Young Buck banned from Radio Station" .

Postby Despo » Dec 1st, '06, 15:26

Sunday's (November 26) altercation between G-Unit artist Young Buck and Atlanta's DJ Will has prompted an outraged reaction from many DJs throughout the country.

As SOHH previously reported, Atlanta's WHTA Hot 107.9 radio station has pulled all Young Buck records from their rotation following an incident at Club Nocturnal on Sunday, when Buck (born David Darnell Brown) got into a physical conflict with a DJ after he played The Game's "It's Okay (One Blood)." Now it appears that Interscope/G-Unit and the music industry as a whole may have a bigger problem, since hundreds of DJ's are currently preparing for a telephone conference that will decide what will be done in response to the incident.

"DJs are disgusted on what happened. Cats are disgusted right now, as a whole," Tony Neal, founder of the Core DJ's told SOHH exclusively. "I'm sure after hearing Game say his beef with 50 was ended on BET, that was enough to say 'alright I get to play this record whenever I want to play it.' Had it been me playing the Game record and Young Buck saying to my audience that I deal with every week, that right there is a conflict to me, " Neal continued. "I might say something back, I might say 'fuck you nigga' and play the record again."

"All that could've been avoided by not saying nothing. Or having someone at the beginning of the night, your publicist say, 'listen we'd appreciate if you don't play these records.' On our Shade 45 show they tell us upfront no D-Block, no Fat Joe, and if you can't do that you can't play your mix."

Neal's organization has over 300 members, all of whom take their motto "The Core DJs... for DJs by DJs" to heart. Although DJ Will is a member of a different DJ crew, the World Famous Superfriends, a Core DJ "All DJ" conference call is beeing held tonight (November 30) to decide the fate of Young Buck, and perhaps other "beefing rappers" who've caused problems.

"I'd be looking crazy if I didn't say anything. First you said something out of line in a man's house, then you put your hands on him. What the fuck is the next step? The only motherfucker that can stop the onslaught now is Will. Other than that, it's all out. We are all for one right now," Neal told SOHH.

Neal says Sunday evening's incident is just the latest in a string of conflicts between DJs and artists. He lists exchanges between Busta Rhymes and DJ Big Gee in the Bahamas, Fat Joe and DJ Epps in Miami and Benzino and Funkmaster Flex all as precursors to the current scandal. In this case, many DJ's are finally deciding that enough is enough.

"We aren't hurting for music to play, we'll just have to move on to something else. I'm with the DJ. The DJ is justifiable. He didn't do nothing wrong to the cat but play a fucking record. It's a fucking record man. That's it," Neal told SOHH.

While the Core DJ's will make a final decision tonight, another source told SOHH that Young Buck's actions Sunday night may result in a nationwide G-Unit boycott that can significantly harm the company. Sources at Hot 107.9 have also told SOHH that DJ Will is not speaking about the incident publicly because he may take legal action.

Buck is real, fuck them stupid Djs ..

wahh? .. just w8 right there mate .. read the Buck side of things ..

As the call was being conducted, Young Buck appeared on Nashville's 101.1 The Beat Jamz "Dolewite and Scooby Show" to give his version of the incident. According to Buck he was onstage preparing to perform accompanied by his own DJ, Don Juan, when DJ Will dropped The Game single. Contrary to previous reports, Buck alleges he did not take offense to "One Blood" being played, but he asked DJ Will if he was trying to be disrespectful, and if so to drop the song again, which DJ Will did.

According to Buck, At that point the crowd at Club Nocturnal grew incensed and after a failed attempt to perform "Money In The Bank," Buck approached the DJ booth. Buck admitted that, feeling threatened, he grabbed DJ Will by his shirt, but when the DJ attempted to explain the miscommunication (Will could not hear what Buck said from the stage and someone near the booth tapped Will to say Buck wanted him to repeat the Game single) he let him go and left the club with his entourage. According to Buck, at that point clubgoers from Atlanta who were not associated with Young Buck attacked DJ Will.

Buck expressed sincere concern over the current situation, acknowledging that an ongoing problem with a radio DJ like Will could cause serious problems for his career, "I'm a grown man so I'm trying to figure out how to resolve this, I have an album to drop in 2-3 months. Core DJ's could cause a chain reaction to other DJs not playing my record."

While at the radio station, Young Buck reached out to Lil Jon, whose BME Recordings also employs DJ Will, but was forced to leave a voicemail for the Atlanta rapper.

this sort of surprised me, i went to a jadakiss concert not so long ago and the beginning djs and even when he was there, they were playing 50 cent tracks, g-unit tracks. The whole deal. Then like 30 minutes later Jada came on, and was doing his "fuck g-unit" portion. I'm thinking, how can this bitch say fuck g-unit and sayin they can't rap when he just let people play his songs at HIS concert.

I think DJs should know enough about whose going, yeah it maybe just a track, and it is up to the DJs to put that shit out, but if artists didn't have any say either its like, where would the djs be without music.

i dunno, i think i would have to hear more of this story, like if the DJ new young buck was there, he shouldn't of played it. I mean all the game does is diss g-unit. That track directly supports the game, by getting more people to listen.
