I've been able to give a proper listen to this mixtape and I think it's not too bad. It's good that he's released this so we get to know better what to expect from Before I Self Destruct. Good or bad? Well if I begin from the bad, I don't like the tone of voice he puts in "Ok, Ya Right" or "Lodnon Girl". It's just...not right. What's good about it is at least there's a bit of variation but that's about it.
Generally it's good and it feels like a mixtape to me unlike Fifty who says it's like a fucking LP. I have to say, the songs aren't bad at all but it still feels a bit like the average 50 Cent we've been getting lately. Although it seems better at times, more of 50 Cent mixtape feel.
My favorite songs have to be "Talking In Codes" (I especially love the beat in that), "C.R.E.A.M. 2009" (It's just a good song really..." and "I'll Do Anything" (There's something catchy about it). The rest of the songs I still have to get more used to them like "Redrum (Murder)". The actual single I'm just not feeling.
At the moment it's sounding good, looking optimistically at it.
