Dubstep/Electro/R&B

Postby Fiftys_Advocate » Jan 23rd, '12, 20:50

Hey guys, I need some advice from you. I heard a couple of tracks that were influenced by dubstep (The Weeknd, hip-hop dubstep-like beats, random remixed shit) and I am looking for some pure electro-dubstep artists. As I said, I really like Weeknd a lot, so I can go that way too.

Which artists should I start with?

I downloaded Skream´s album, the one released in 2010, Outside the Box. 8bit, CPU, Field of Emotions, Stand Up - all of these are incredibly good! Do you know something similarly great?

I gave a listen to EPs "My Name is Skrillex" and "Scary Monsters and....". The first one is... Terrible (there is nothing I could like), I liked 4 songs out of 10 on the second one. Is it worth listen any other his albums?

@Next Episode, I listened to Avicii - Levels, and I think it is pretty good :y:

His new one that just came out is titled "Bangarang" I mean, I like it...If you want like rap over it download the madden brothers newest mixtape. They are formally known as the band Good Charlotte but randomly decided to go electro? :confusion:

"DubStep"

Croydon!

This shit/genre comes from Croydon, y'know that right?

This shop on London Road that had this cool Eqyptian type art was where this genre was born.
I remember passing that place a lot growing up.

This video is actually a shout out to my Croydon roots. :facepalm :coffee: :D
I'm from South London from Westminster to the back streets of Thornton Heath.
Off Brigstock Road.

For the sake of having a dubstep thread:

Definitely check out Knife Party. Pure dubstep. Recommended tracks (just click on title):

Bonfire [from the Rage Valley EP, 2012]
Power Glove [from the Haunted House EP, 2013]
LRAD [from the Haunted House EP, 2013]
Centipede [from the Rage Valley EP, 2012]
Antidote [with Swedish House Mafia][from Until Now, 2012]

LRAD is actually more house/trap, but still awesome. Antidote used to have a really badass video with a lot of nudity and violence, but I can't seem to find it.

Next, check out Killsonik. They're not really famous, but they are fucking hardcore.

Bloodlust [from the Bloodlust Single, 2012]
Where The River Runs Black [from the Where The River Runs Black EP, 2013]
Lost In The Echo (Remix) [2012]

And ''My Name Is Skrillex EP'' is definitely not a good EP to start with. If I were you, I'd check out ''Bangarang EP'' too.

Bangarang [from the Bangarang EP, 2011]
Kyoto [from the Bangarang EP, 2011[i]]
Father Said [unreleased demo.]

Scary Monsters And Nice Spirites [from the Scary Monsters And Nice Spirites EP, 2010
Ruffneck [FULL Flex] [from the More Monsters And Spirites EP]
First Of The Year [Equinox] [from the More Monsters And Spirites EP]
