Try this.

I hate to say it, but the full album bores me a bit.....every song is more of the same. Don't expect more songs like West Coast, there are neither.

I miss Lana's wild party side (I understand me) , now all sounds sad and depressed...

Well, I've listened to the album like 10 or so times now, and I can honestly say I'm a bit disappointed.

The album is beautifully sloppy. Definitely not a classic like I was expecting/hoping for. It's still an enjoyable album though. It's just not as good as Born To Die.

I wish they'd spend more time making sure her vocals weren't so fucking sloppy, Jesus Christ. She sounds nasal as shit at times and her layered vocals are fucking misaligned and it sounds like utter shit (Ultraviolence). It's almost insulting how bad the quality is. Also her writing is lazy as shit sometimes too (I'm a sad girl, I'm a sad girl, I'm a bad girl... Smh). Not to mention how repetitive it is. Same fucking drums throughout. The only "different" song is the last deluxe song and it's pretty WOAT. God-tier melodies though on the album.

I love the album, but it's just... beautifully sloppy. That's the only two words that I can think of to describe it.

With that said, though... Old Money, Brooklyn Baby, Pretty When You Cry, and Shades Of Cool are GOAT.

Oh yeah, and fuck what they did to the album version of West Coast.

I think we all are disappointed for the same reason.

Born to die and all the leaked songs, there were songs for all the moods, I used to listen Off to the races, or Live or die before going out...

Every song in the new album has that sad mood, except West Coast. I've heard that she deals with depression, and I wouldn't be surprised after listening this.

Maybe it sounds sloopy because it was recorded too fast. To me it doesn't really sounds sloopy but repetitive. Not saying is bad, but I listened BTD everyday on my way to work almost one full year, I can't imagine myself listening Ultraviolence much. It's way too sad.

Kasia did you listened to it?

She should have kept the new songs she made for BTD: The Paradise Edition for this album. Ride, American, Cola, God and Monsters etc would have been much better than the songs she has on Ultraviolence.

Someone scanned the booklet and it looks like The Black Keys Dan Auerbach produced the majority of the album. Big mistake! Judging from the album he's pretty one note. Emilie Haynie managed to produce the majority of BTD and the Paradise Edition without sounding repetitive. Why mess with a winning formula?

Horse wrote:it's not a disappointment. i've heard it three times now and i fucking love it. the songs have a similar sound for a good reason: they're all meant to convey Lana's mind state at the time, flaws and all. (hence why she purposely didn't fix some vocal "mistakes" on the album.) if you've read some of her interviews, you know she's depressed and not in a very good place mentally. it's a very sad, melancholy album for that reason, and it's amazing. it's a deeply personal piece of art.

but you just can't listen to it often :shakehead:

it's a good album, but you have to be in the 'right' mood lol

Or in the wrong one, lol. If I ever feel like crying myself to sleep that's the right one.

I'm really loving Brooklyn Baby now, that song grew on me.

Ultraviolence , West Coast, Black beauty, Brooklyn baby, Cruel world The other woman and fucked my way up to the top are the only songs I'm listening by the moment. I admit I skip the rest.

Do you guys like more Black beauty in the leaked version time ago or the album one? I kinda like more the old version.

I was listening Old money, at first I didn't like it, now I do, but I have the same problem than with the rest of the songs. It put me in a terrible mood, so sad....I was almost in tears with this part :

Those summer nights
Seem long ago
So is the girl
You used to call
The queen of New York city
But, if you'd send for me
You know I'll come
And if you'd call for me
You know I'll run
I'll run to you, I'll run to you
I'll run, run, run
I'll come to you, I'll come to you
I'll come, come, come

I don't think I'll listen the album much , other than a few songs. :(
