[Not for everyone] John Frusciante

Postby NextEpisode » Dec 29th, '12, 00:15

John Frusciante is one of the most unique and talented musicians I've ever had the chance to come across.

Note, however, JF is not for everyone. His music isn't considered very mainstream.

John Frusciante is an American guitarist, singer, songwriter, record and film producer.

He is best known as the longtime guitarist of the rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers, with whom he had been for a number of years and recorded five studio albums from 1988 until 1992 and again from 1998 until 2009.

Frusciante also has an active solo career (<-- this is the focus of this thread), having released eleven albums under his own name. His solo recordings include elements ranging from experimental rock and ambient music to New Wave and electronica.

He left RHCP back in 1992 'cause they got too popular and he didn't like that. This totally explains it.

He's a good solo artist but he's much better with RHCP. :y:

https://soundcloud.com/recordcollection ... frusciante

This song was recorded for my friend Wayne Forman, the coolest, kindest friend anybody could ever have. When I used to play in arenas I would often mentally aim my playing at him. Wayne loved long guitar solos, and he was my favorite person in the audience to play for. As everyone who knew him is well aware, he was also the best chef ever. When I saw him two days ago, he was laying in front of a CD player, so when I came home I decided I'd make something for him. I recorded this solo for him to hear, but I finished it a day too late, so now it is a tribute to his memory. It is what he would have wanted me to play for him, and it is my offering to his family and friends all over the world, as well as anybody else. Wayno lives in our hearts forever, the greatest guy anybody could ever know. I'm so lucky to have been graced by his friendship. All the love in the world to him.

great instrumental that reminds me some red hot songs.

I listened to Letur-Lefr, very special and great, and having RZA on :y:

^ Based on your previous avi, I take it you're a RHCP fan? :) :y:

And yea, Frusciante is one of them artists I could listen to just jam for a couple of hours, preferably with Flea. No vocals needed. The two together is just out of this world!

--> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEFs7thvx6s

Frusciante is a long-time fan of Wu-tang, so it's cool to see RZA and him doing something together. Letur Lefr isn't really "my type of music", tbh, but I enjoyed it for what it was, an experimental project. It's cool that he still feels the urge to evolve and experiment! Fruscinate is like an extreme version of Eminem, the only thing he's doing is recording, lol.

To me Slash is the best, even Santana or Sambora.

But he is amazing for sure. :y:

haha, yeah, I didn't realize they all start by S. I think they all are amazing.

Slash guitar solo in November Rain get me every time.

Sambora is my love of fan. After I saw him live I think he is very underrated.

Santana is amazing but his music is not completely my cup of tea. I would also say Hendrix and Page before Frusciante. But he would be in my tòp 10 easily.
