I love metal and rock since I was young. I enjoy the lead guitars and solos, as well as the rhythm guitar parts in bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden and early Sepultura. I like just about everything as far as rock/metal goes, but nu metal is probably my least favorite sub-genre of metal, but I do enjoy a few bands [Korn, Slipknot]. I really enjoy 80s thrash and hair metal, 70s classic rock [Kiss, particularly Ace Frehley, were influential in me playing guitar], Norwegian black metal, death metal [Death, Entombed, Cannibal Corpse, etc.] and so on.

I like tons of metal, so much so it'd probably take a book to list and talk about all of the bands I like, however, I read through the last couple pages of this thread [5-6 pages] and wasn't really feeling a whole lot of what people were saying. I disliked Chaos A.D. [Beneath the Remains and Arise were thrash metal classics from a band that wasn't apart of the big 4], Coal Chamber and Mudvayne aren't that interesting to me, Mars Volta and Opeth don't catch my attention, I don't think Superjoint is the best Phil Anselmo band, and I'm sure there's probably something I forgot, but you get the idea. I just wanted to get these outta the way in one post so I don't have multiple negative posts about this and that about stuff that doesn't appeal to me.

Anyways, anyone a fan of 80s thrash, Kiss or Alice Cooper? Also, what do you think of rock/metal in rap songs?

I'm an At The Drive In fan also, but Mars Volta is something else :flutter:

Can't stand them tbh.

What dont you like about them?

Jeremy (I think that's his name) has amazing clean vocals and great screams. 90% of their songs are catchy as fuck too.

yeah man the music is real catchy

I checked those out, not bad. I don't know why, but I feel like their music is losing intensity a little bit. Nothing noticeable at first, but I really had to listen carefully.

What do you guys think?

What do you mean by losing intensity? They don't sound that heavy? The sound quality of Youtube is not the best to be honest...this album probably won't be as heavy as "The Blackening" i think it has more of a "Unto The Locust" feeling to it...

Love the violin on "Now We Die" :worship:

What are your guys's opinions on Soilwork and Blind Guardian? If you haven't heard of them I'd checkout Soilwork - The Living Infinite, and Blind Guardian's At The Edge of Time.

Singin' "Bagpipes from Baghdad" again
In my dad's drag draggin' a faggot in a Glad bag
Won't be the last time I make a dramatic entrance like that again
You thought I was lyin' when I said I think that I'm crossin' the line again
I've lost my mind, caution oh God I think I've just thought of another fucking line
Forgive me father, for I have sinned
But hip hop has left me brainwashed with a violent streak

Since you like Soilwork, you should also listen to In Flames.

I have listened to In Flames. I listened to "Songs In a Playground" or something like that. It was okay, I didnt care for it too much. But that was when I was skeptical about Metal. Probs will give 'em another try.

And I will check out that album for sure!
