David Bowie has promised new music 'soon'

David Bowie has teased a possible new album, confirming that there will be 'more music soon' but stopping short of giving a release date.

The singer made the announcement in typically casual fashion, tacking it onto the end of a statement made to guests a charity event at London's tiny 12 Bar, which was held to celebrate 50 years of the rock icon's music and raise money for the Terrence Higgins Trust.

The note read: "This city is even better than the one you were in last year, so remember to dance, dance, dance. And then sit down for a minute, knit something, then get up and run all over the place. Do it. Love on ya. More music soon. David."

A spokesperson for Bowie has since confirmed to NME that is indeed from the singer.

Few could have expected quite how successful Bowie's comeback would be last year, with The Next Day earning him nominations at the Grammy Awards and Mercury Music Prize ceremony, while his star-studded music videos attracted many millions of views.

Bowie previously suggested that work was underway on a new album to be released "this year" in a tribute to Columbia chairman Rob Stringer he posted on Facebook.
