Pink Floyd - Endless River

Postby Shpongle » Sep 23rd, '14, 14:33

The Endless River is the band's first studio album in twenty years

"Gilmour and Mason describe "The Endless River" as "mainly a four-sided instrumental album. It also features one song, “Louder Than Words”, with new lyrics by Gilmour's wife, Polly Samson. The art work for the album cover features a man paddling across a river of clouds.

“ 'The Endless River' has as its starting point the music that came from the 1993 'Division Bell' sessions," guitarist Gilmour said, in a statement released Monday. (A full list of its songs appears below.)

"We listened to over 20 hours of the three of us playing together and selected the music we wanted to work on for the new album. Over the last year we've added new parts, re-recorded others and generally harnessed studio technology to make a 21st century Pink Floyd album. With Rick gone, and with him the chance of ever doing it again, it feels right that these revisited and reworked tracks should be made available as part of our repertoire."

Added Mason: “ 'The Endless River' is a tribute to Rick. I think this record is a good way of recognizing a lot of what he does and how his playing was at the heart of the Pink Floyd sound. Listening back to the sessions, it really brought home to me what a special player he was.”

I really love The Wall homie (especially the film), haven't seen it in ages though. Don't really bump much rock these days but will definitely be giving this a spin when it drops. What's your fav album bro?

The Wall is a great album :y: I got three albums that i listen the most, "Animals", "Wish You Were Here" and "The Division Bell" but Pink Floyd is one of those bands that i don't think i have a favourite album per say...i also dig David Gilmours solo work :y:

Thats fucked up, but yeah back in the day, 60s and 70s, Floyd was one those bands people would "trip" on, Floyd and Grateful Dead...those were the days :D

Pink Floyd's 'The Endless River' to Feature Stephen Hawking

"On November 10th, Pink Floyd will unveil The Endless River, their first album in two decades. Although the new LP is a mostly instrumental affair, this long-awaited Floyd album will feature one familiar "voice": physicist Stephen Hawking's artificial voice appears on The Endless River track "Talkin' Hawkin'." Pink Floyd previously recruited the scientist, who communicates using a speech-generating device, to serve as narrator on their The Division Bell single "Keep Talkin'," but "Talkin' Hawkin'" will not be a sequel to the 1994 track."

This is awesome, "Keep Talkin" was one of my favourite tracks of "The Division Bell" :y:
