Possibly the most brutal group ever...

... at least for a year or two before they started blowing deathcore's derisive dick.
Basically, when Lord Worm, easily the greatest death metal vocalist of all time, was in the band, they were untouchable. (Too bad he only stuck around for two albums before becoming a fucking English teacher). The sounds that he could naturally produce from his God-given voicebox were nothing less than frightening.
It still baffles me how Cryptopsy went from being one of the greatest death metal bands of all time... to one of the absolute worst.

Y'know it's funny you should mention that .
Like I said, the singer/lyricist is an English teacher, and his words are so brilliantly written.
It always made me wonder why he bothered to write such beautifully crafted, poetic pieces for music where you can't understand a single word he's saying.
I even had the album booklet in my hands, reading the words as the music was playing, and I STILL couldn't follow along.
That's why he's the best. He sounds more like a fucking monster than a human.

Look, let me put it this way, once and for all.
When played loud enough, this music makes me feel like a helpless teenage girl being raped and murdered.
Its effect on my mind... fascinates me, from a psychological standpoint.
It makes me feel high, like a drug.
It makes me happy.
I realize everyone's mind works differently, so believe me, I'm not surprised that people wouldn't understand the appeal of this music.
But the point is, dR3, the music isn't meant to be understood.
It's meant to be a gateway of sorts to a different world.
It's like Pinhead said in Hellraiser: "We're angels to some, demons to others".
It depends on your psyche.

^ I fully understand you. For me, rap is what makes me feel that way, except for the 'teenage girl' part. But I still listen to some good pump-up metal.
