8 Mile

Postby UofLCard » Jul 31st, '13, 03:40

Am I the only one on here who thinks 8 Mile might be better than Lose Yourself?

I find myself today listening to 8 Mile more than Lose Yourself but that's probably because I overplayed the shit out of Lose Yourself when I was younger.

It's a very good song, very well written. Love the beat. I also love Rabbit Run.

EDIT: Just heard Lose Yourself for the first time in a good while. I don't think 8 Mile is better. But I'm not dismissing how dope 8 Mile is. The rhyming was tight. Covered the whole films essence. Great track to just sit back and reflect. whew.

I like 8 mile way more than Lose Yourself. Lose yourself is pretty overrated because of the Oscar.

No doubt, that Lose Yourself is an awesome song. It is a masterpiece, but I honestly think that 8 mile is a little bit better. Lose yourself has an inspiring strong beat, which fits mainstream better, so they did it as a main theme. 8 mile has a depressive, pretty heavy production and it is too long to be a main theme, thats why 8 mile is underrated.
8 mile covers the topic of being desperate so deep, Eminem delivers the whole range of feelings so perfectly as much as it can be. He took every single emotion, every thought and feeling of an unlucky and ineffectual MC and turned it into words.

Although all are excellent, I think it goes:
1) Lose Yourself
2) Rabbit Run
3) 8 Mile
