Devil's Night x D12 World

Postby Raul » Oct 22nd, '13, 22:51

So, I just listened to these 2 albums for the first time, and I am kind of curious about the thought of my fellow members of TR. How do you rate Devil's Night and D12 World? Also, what your thoughts about 'My Band', specifically?

For the 1st time listening, these are my ratings:

DN - 10/10
D12 World - 8/10

I like the song "My Band" only because of D12's ability to make fun of themselves, which a lot of rappers seem to not be able to handle (cough kanye cough). Lyrically, it's not quite on what one would expect from Eminem, but it's still pretty good. I have the same thoughts about Encore (excluding a few songs like Big Weenie etc.). It's not up to one would think Eminem's standards are, but it's still ok, plus it's hilarious. The first time I heard Encore, as it got to the part in Rain Man where it goes "Goddamnit Dre where's the goddamn beat (yeah)" I honestly burst out laughing. So, compared to the rest of Eminem's catalogue, no, My Band (and Encore) aren't too good, but they're funny, so that has to count for something.

Everyone else's verses on it were pretty good, nothing too special, nothing too bad.. The acapella part and "bridge" are hilarious though.

Devil's Night is a classic in my eyes. Eminem in his post-MMLP prime, D12 in their prime, damn. Songs range from funny to angry, and the beats are :worship: .

I would say Devil's Night is better than D12 World. There're a couple good songs on it, but other songs I just despise (like 40 Oz.). I like Just Like U (but mostly just the beginning with the choir and then the hook), Loyalty is ok, My Band is alright (but again, in a comedic sense), 6 In The Morning is sick (even though it had leaked a year previous), D-12 World is good, and How Come is sick. Good Die Young is by far the greatest song on the album just because da feels. Like, really, damn. Also, the bonus tracks Keep Talkin is dopeee.

I literally love every song on Devil's Night other than Nasty Mind (idk, could just never get into that). I also love "These Drugs" and "Words are Weapons" is a personal favorite just in general.

I love My Band. I really do.
So many funny lyrics :flutter:
It's one hell of an experience everytime I listen to it

I've read somewhere that Devils Night is MMLP part 2. Although highly inaccurate, it's from the same era and it's 90% the same Eminem we get, kinda like TES and 8 mile tracks. Great album, 9/10. I don't care much about Revelation, Nasty Mind and Instigator though. Pistol Pistol GOAT beat.

D12 World is Encore eminem, so... 6/10
I don't enjoy Em on it. He was on almost only half of the sons and seemed lazy to be more active.
When he was, he didn't shine much. It's a shame because D12 was on point once again.

Haha, better late than even later mate :y: The idea behind the name is that basically if you remove some letters out of my real name it becomes Stan... And I am a fan of the new Em and the old Em, my favorite song when I heard MMLP for the first time was Stan and my favorite when I heard Recovery was Cinderella Man... those are not my favorite songs now but whatever... also, Cinderella Stan is same as Cinderella Man, Stan is a man, but a fan, like me... Plus Cinderella Man with Russel Crowe is one of my favorite drama movies... so as you can see, I've spent a great deal of time thinking about a name when I was registering, lol.
