My Fault

Here you can review anything related to Slim Shady

His story telling is on on top form here but I was never much of a fan of the story that was being told (as comical as it was) or the chorus. In an album with classics like Brain Damage, Role Model, JDGAF & SDGAF it feels a bit like filler material.
Q. What did Eminem say to 50 when he caught him wearing a sweater?
A. GEE YOU KNITT??

I ain't no fucking G, I'm a cannibal
I ain't tryin to shoot you, I'm tryin to chop you into pieces and eat you
Wrap you in rope and plastic, stab you with broken glass
And have you with open gashes strapped to a soakin mattress
Coke and acid, black magic, cloaks and daggers
Fuck the planet, 'til it spins on a broken axis

I think this song fits so perfectly on SSLP with its serious, real-life issues being masked by humorous storytelling.

"Filler"...what the fuck does this even mean now?

I usually take "filler" to mean something the rapper put together quickly just to fill the album up. Not a single track on SSLP was filler, by that definition. Particularly this one...that sort of sharp storytelling combined with detailed rhyme schemes requires a lot of thought.

The funny lines/jokes/cool rhymes on SSLP were collected and gathered over a period of 3-4 years...he didn't shit any of the songs out. He slaved over them for 3 years, in between shifts of washing dishes and changing baby diapers.

I dunno, I heard/read somewhere that he wrote My fault after the Lounge skit was recorded. My thoughts were that My Fault might've been one of the last tracks recorded to try and pad out the album a bit because it was only around 50mins long and contained loads of skits ... Who knows.

Side note: does anyone else think it's weird that he was 26 when this song was made? I always imagine him as an 18-19 year old adolescent in my minds-eye when listening to it.

Singin' "Bagpipes from Baghdad" again
In my dad's drag draggin' a faggot in a Glad bag
Won't be the last time I make a dramatic entrance like that again
You thought I was lyin' when I said I think that I'm crossin' the line again
I've lost my mind, caution oh God I think I've just thought of another fucking line
Forgive me father, for I have sinned
But hip hop has left me brainwashed with a violent streak

It's decent enough. To me, it's in the lower tier of SSLP tracks.
