So Far...

Postby Brainless BadGuy » Jan 15th, '14, 01:16

This song has grown on me so much since November. The first time I heard it I was like "meh this is catchy enough but doesn't sound like something Em would do" I now think it's a standout record on the album! (top 5)
That low-key bit is :worship:
Q. What did Eminem say to 50 when he caught him wearing a sweater?
A. GEE YOU KNITT??

I ain't no fucking G, I'm a cannibal
I ain't tryin to shoot you, I'm tryin to chop you into pieces and eat you
Wrap you in rope and plastic, stab you with broken glass
And have you with open gashes strapped to a soakin mattress
Coke and acid, black magic, cloaks and daggers
Fuck the planet, 'til it spins on a broken axis

Amazing song! One of the hidden gems on MMLP 2 that a lot of people don't talk about. Quite underrated.

Most likely only 'cuz some of the other songs made some great impression & put some other great ones in the shade. It is a gem indeed though. :y:

Menzo wrote:Tons of great lines in this and I love how he addresses his age, was hoping for more of that on the album tbh. Would've been funny as hell.

I do think ONE part coulda been tweaked (for my own personal taste) to make it that much better, when he says: "Teenagers act more fuckin' mature, Jack!". I would've really loved it if he replaced "Jack" with "dad", it woulda been hilarious for him to imply his kids are embarrassed by his nature.

Nicely said... definitely a lotta memorable lines that will stick around.

Was it just me or did it seem like the part in the song where he says the label wanted him to follow up with another Recovery but what good is a Recovery if he fumbles it part sound like kind of a diss to his label. Not so much a diss but like he was kind of upset at his label at least when he wrote that line. Did anyone else feel that way too?

Yeah, kinda...

"They want me to flip at the label, but I won't succumb to it
The pressure, they want me to follow up with a-
Nother one after Recovery was so highly coveted
But what good is a fucking recovery if I fumble it?"

Yeah that's actually a pretty cool part now that I really think about it. Thank God Em didn't listen to his label. We could've had something like a Recovery 2.

Definitely not a diss IMO... it's just the way he does it.
The other thing is Em has all the freedom creatively & listens to the people from Interscope 'cuz he wants to, not 'cuz he has to.

I hope you guys aren't thinking Eminem is somehow dissing Recovery.

He's saying what good is him making his Recovery and return to the top if his next album (MMLP2) is just the same thing. If it isn't even better than the last album.

That's what I got from it anyway.

This is pretty much what I got from it.

And to Mr Change, No I never saw it as a diss to Recovery because it's not.

Absolutely love Rick's production on it. Love that it's a genuinely funny song yet he's not really using his Slim Shady persona, just Eminem rambling on about life and poking fun at himself.

And that includes Biggie and Pac, whore
And I got an Evil Twin
So who the fuck do you think that third and that fourth spot's for?
