It was pretty much avoided in this album because Em wanted it to be serious. I don't think you can consider "Cold Wind Blows" a "joke song" like the ones listed above by the way.
So do you think he will add a joke song on his new album? Do you want one? At the moment I have no idea, but I'm really hoping for one since all those songs always manage to put a smile on my face.
You wouldn't consider WTP a joke song? It's entirely comical.
He doesn't have to be silly or goofy to be funny.
In fact that's the problem... in his prime... he never compromised the style of the albums to be funny, but on Encore and Relapse he did; the fart noises and like... becoming a more goofy version of himself; even "My Name Is" wasn't goofy, he was just sarcastic and 'out of it'.
So I hope there's no goofy songs, since it always seems contrived.
I hope there's funny songs though and by funny I mean MMLP-funny; and his recent BET humour and post 011 sarcasm is actually good signs for his humour; he's being sarcastic but confidently, cocky, witty... not just SUPER SERIOUS ARGHHH or gooffffballl fart!
There were funny moments on Recovery too though; "it ain't like me to split a piece of dry pita" is funny to me, and it's intended to be, as well as him throwing pennies at strippers; this is his real spiteful sense of humour which hasn't been properly seen since TES. As in, it was present on patches on Recovery and in recent freez and songs but up until then, was not; was silly on Encore, and Relapse was funny but he was in-character so it was more abstract and showing psychopathy.
I think a lot of his fans are dumb are don't actually get his REAL humour, his real dry wit and if he 'sounds' serious, they take that as humourless. A lot of people are like that with comedy in general, they need too many winks to the camera. His goofy songs are less funny than even his most serious songs, he often has one line of black humour in a really somber and depressive song that is actually funny; goofy or try-hard funny is not funny, it's just obvious and easy.
I hope he's funny. Not goofy.
