I'm a bit like this too.
Originally I never liked him at all or rap period. The first rapper I liked and started listening to was Kanye because I loved "Gold Digger" when it came out... Think I was about 12/13 at the time. Then I remember watching the Cleanin' Out my Closet video on tv and was like... shit I need to check out more of Eminem's stuff maybe I didn't give him a chance. So I did and since then I never looked back lol

I was really young when the Slim Shady LP came out, and my parents bought it for me.

My mom is a big Eminem fan, thus making me one.

I got away from Eminem until around 5th grade. I started wrestling at my current training partner's house, and he would always play "Lose Yourself," "Til I Collapse," and "8 Mile." This got me back into Eminem, and I started to work at getting every Eminem song ever made, I'm sure I don't have them all but I have to be pretty close. (Around 500)

For a while, only Em tracked that I listened was 'Till I collapse, like 4 years ago. Then he released Not Afraid and I bumped it a lot but I was never interested enough to listen to albums or other songs. Then came I Need a Doctor, and suddenly I wanted to know more about Em and Dre. So it happened, I started listening to both artists, I started to inform myself about Em's life since his beginning (and started listen to rap music basically), and I still listen to him all the time since ... Then I listened to 50 and all the Shady/Aftermath universe which I really loved too (and still do )

Now Eminem is my fucking idole, I've collected the whole discography and I have to listen to the guy at least 4 hours a day if I don't want to make a coma.

First Eminem song I heard was "We Made You" when they were playing the video on MTV or some other music channel back in 2009. I didn't like the song and I didn't know who he was either. Probably the first Em song that I heard that I liked was "When I'm gone" and I'm pretty sure it was only the third song I'd ever heard from him. The second song being "Not Afraid" when the video premiered on Vevo. I was indifferent to the song and video at the time, don't even think I watched the whole thing.

I only became a huge fan in 2012 though, when I was bored on Youtube and decided to listen to a bunch of his songs since I'd heard a few I had liked prior to that. Afterwards bought all his albums and have loved his music ever since.

The first partial Eminem song I remember hearing was Stan circa 2000, but I started to get into him in 2002 after hearing Without Me and Lose Yourself on the radio.

My brother had the MMLP, and then bought Encore for me. It was probably 2004ish. I couldn't stop playing Yellow Brick Road, Encore, Spend Some Time... Well I couldn't stop playing the album at all. The album was illmatic back then

I still will go on YouTube and listen to it every once in a while, because it takes me back to that time.

Even today, Encore has replay value; dare I say more than Recovery.

When I was like 6 I used to always watch an MTV channel that only played music videos and I would always look forward to the eminem songs just cause I thought they were super catchy even though I had no idea what he was saying. Then once I found YouTube later I rediscovered all the songs and listened to the rest of his discography. My parents always hated eminem lol

I randomly started listening around Recovery. I knew his music and shit, but hadn't really bothered actually getting into it. Then I started to like what I had heard of Recovery and downloaded the rest of the album and was memorized. Then I went to TES, which at first I didn't really like that much (it's my all time favorite album now). Then MMLP, then SSLP, and then Relapse. It took a couple listens to each album to actually enjoy, but after that, I was fucking hooked. There was a year afterwards where I played an Eminem song every day. At least one.

When I first heard his music was during 8 Mile. My friend got the soundtrack for it and let me borrow the bonus disc that had Stimulate on it. Stimulate was the very first Eminem song I ever heard and I loved it. Then in 2007 I heard Without Me on the radio and I had recognized the voice. I had heard songs of his like Lose Yourself obviously but I didn't really dig deeper until that one night. I liked the song a lot, it was funny and made me laugh, so I went home and downloaded The Eminem Show.

Been a huge fan ever since. I hate that I missed being a fan during his prime though.
